Analogue vcr tapes have been saved onto dvd disc then imported into media
player.
The VOB files have been changed to mpeg files and played in media centre.
Each file is labeled as a video clip and plays only for a few seconds in
media centre although I believe all the information is present for a full
replay. Any help to achieve a full replay will be much appreciated

Did you convert the files or just change the extension to mpg?

If the latter, try using VideoReDo to actually convert the vob to mpg.

There might be a demo version available; there are other programs that
do similar things, but I've used VRD with success.
