Can i fix files with XP Professional?

I have an error of a missing file or corrupt one in system32\hal.dll
I can not boot at all, even in safe mode, but do have the options of boot
menus but they dont work. I have found ways to fix my problem without using
my system recovery disk and erasing everything but they all require the XP
disk which doesn't come with our computers. So,ã??since it is just a file, can
i buy a XP pro disk to boot fix the problem? If i can at least boot to get my
files off i can do a restore.
Sorry if this is a repost, i couldnt find the one i did yesterday....

You can buy the Windows XP Media Center 2005 CD disk set.

You failed to mention which version of your running, in this post or your
post yesterday (which is still there). If your going to spend the money,
purchase media Center 2005, not XP Pro.
