cant play most codecs in wmc

hello folks,hope there is a simple fix for this, i am using vista ultimate
64, i can play all vid formats fine in windows media player, checked that all
codecs are there, so from what i gather you should then be able to play all
these codecs in windows media center,but no! so far i have only been able to
play avi that has not been compressed (i do a bit of hobby 3d modeling and
animation) and tv that has been recorded by media center itself, it lists all
other videos in the library, apart from mpeg4 but it just says cant find the
codec? surely it should be able to play its own microsoft codecs!?

Same problem here, vistam ulimate 64. Tried different codec implementations,
media player gets to play evertything, even mkv, mc playes nothing.

The only partial success was when mc played mkv but video is slow and
completely out of sync.
