Recently reverted from Vista to XP MC. All is working fine, but yesterday
wanted to play an mwv and discovered there is no audio. There is no volume
control icon in the taskbar at bottom right, either. Windows beeps are
working so the speakers are fine. Any idea what may be going on?

What sound card is there?Install the sound card driver from the
motherboard CD.Visit the sound card's manufacturer site to download and
install the latest compatible audio driver.

Thank you. By motherboard CD do you mean the eMachines disk that contains
Windows XP Media Center? That is the only disk I have of that might contain
motherboard information. I have no stand-alone motherboard card.

I am just a user, not very computer literate. Sorry. Regards, Mike

Visit emachines website and download the proper driver for your model and
OS.
