-Vista Ultimate--ATI tuner card-just bought vista-

I have a directv HD reciever,I have a extender cable for the infared device
running into my living room, I run my coaxial cable from my tuner card into a
box i purchased at radio shack, then i run another coax cable from the box to
my hd reciever- I also have a red/yellow/white cable that plugs in this
box, then to the back of my hd reciever- my MCE was working fine until one
day, it just stopped changing the channel-everything else worked.I tried
deleting the recordings.xml files, I found some MCE fixes that didnt
work(they re-registered the dll's etc..)..there was a service that would not
stay running- it was either the service launcher or reciever service-this was
the main issue i believe- i tried fixing the net framework, i checked
permissions on the service itself and still no luck. i reformatted and
installed vista 2 times, checked all my drivers and installed- everything is
"installed and working as far as hardware"- I cannot believe if this is a
software issue that reinstalling did not fix it? I cant lean towards hardware
because my infared and tv tuner card are installing and seem to be working.
I'm so sick of these problems, i cant believe i have to pay to have something
fixed that should work- is MS ever going to come out with a tool that
replaces/repairs all media center files so we have half a chance at fixing
these things? if anyone has any info i would greatly appreciate it, i'm
losing my mind trying to figure this out..

I'm not sure why the services all the sudden became corrupted? DCOM?
netframework? vista updates? I did have updates downloading and installing at
night- i tried uninstalling some of these updates and of course no luck-

I hope someone has seen this and can help!

Timothy, your post is very confusing for several reasons.
I want to carefully cover that with you so you can be assisted, OK?
First is the title of your thread/post. Windows Media center 2005, right?
You never mention it again in your post you have some comments about
installing Vista.
You mention a box purchased at Radio Shack, right? What is it does it have a
name part number?
The Red/White and Yellow cables are RCA cables they carry the same data the
coax cable carries, you don't need both.Disconnect one or the other, however
the RCA cables are better then the coax cable.
One day you weren't able to change channels on the MCE, OK did you try
another infrared receiver or IR blaster to see if that was the problem?
Troubleshooting systematically is important so you don't go overboard in
thinking every things broken/malfunctioning.

A list of hardware in your system would be helpful a step by step accounting
of what you are doing would also be helpful. What OS you are actually using
since MCE 2005 is Windows XP and Vista are 2 different things.
If your Media center computer was an off the shelf like Dell or HP please
indicate that as well with the model number if not the hardware you used
please.
I build and repair computers and will assist you as much as I can here
Timothy.
Please provide as much of the information I asked for as you can. Sit down
with a pad of paper and write your information down.Doing this will help keep
track of what you are doing so repeating hopefully won't be necessary.

Did you low level format your hard drive before reinstalling your OS?
If you don't know I'll cover everything with you after you reply.
