I recntly bought my computer like 2 months ago and it came with a tv tuner.
it was working fine intill windows vista did some kind of update and now
Window Media center says that there is no Tv tuner installed when i try to
watch tv. I have taken out the tv tuner card, restarted my computer and then
pug it back in. the device manager says that the device is working properly.
i also updated the driver for the turner. I think there is something wrong
with Windows Media Center. Can anyone help me? the tv tuner is a Hauppauge
WinTV HVR - 1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo

HP desktop, same tuner, same problem. WMC recorded a program on Tues, but
not on Wed. I checked and there had been an update Tues night, and I had
earlier upgraded AIM. I uninstalled AIM and also reinstalled the driver.
No luck. Also System Restore to a date before the update didn't help. I
went to Hauppauge's site and download their driver and software. I am using
that now because HP's solution is to use their restore disks, and until WMC
is more stable I wont restore my computer using HP's restore disks.

Im not sure what's going on but i am having the same problem, this happened
to be today, yesterday i saw a Windows Update icon in my tray and but i dont
think it upgraded, but any how my media center isn't working as well.

At first i wasn't getting anything from the channels, then i thought i would
have to set it up again, so i went to Setup TV Signal, and try to set it up,
but it said Tuner Not Found. So everytime i go there now i see Tuner
Unavailable. I tried two restore points, and upgraded the driver for the
Tuner but still nothing.

Can anyone help?

While researching this problem for my HP, I found this site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c01187871&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

The "services" step fixed my problem. Also, the video is sharper with the
drivers I installed from Hauppauge's site for my WinTV HVR - 1600 NTSC/ATSC
Combo.
