Hello. I need to backup some important data on a Windows XP machine. The data
will be in use (open) during the backup. Is windows backup capable of backing
up data that is in use without corrupting it? I guess I'm asking if it has
some sort of open file technology. I don't want to perform a backup on open
data and find that the data gets corrupted. Thanks in advance!

Windows XP does not allow access to any file that is in use.

The backup program in XP uses shadow copy so open files do not need to be
closed in order to back them up.
