Ive recently set up a media center computer using a hauppauge hvr 1100 that
has free to air digital TV channels. These channels come through the ariel
which then goes through my sky box through a RF composite cable and into my
TV tuner card. Only the DVB channels appear though the sky channel (what ever
channel i happen to have on sky doesnt) - how do I get MC to detect the sky
channel?

- I live in the UK
- I recieve sky throuh a satellite

Your tuner card is operating as a DVB-T digital card, therefore
it can't 'see' the analogue channels on the RF feed and your sky channels
are analogue on that output NOT DVB-T.

Basically you just have an aerial looped through your sky box.

Do connect a sky set top box to media center you would use an analogue
capture card using the yellow composite input and the red & white audio
inputs. You then connect the IR Blaster LED that comes with the media
center remote and stick them to the front of the SKY box so that your
computer can flash infrared to the SKY box to make it change channels.
