Vista Ultimate Media Center Freezes Every Time

Hi. I have Vista Ultimate Media Center connected to a Sony Vaio 200 Disc
VGP-XL1B DVD Changer. When I go into view the DVD selection Media Center
wants to bring in the discs. I let it and it will start and bring in a few
and then freeze every single time. During this process it is downloading the
DVD information and covers. This is frustrating because this is the sole
purpose for this machine. This machine has 2GB of RAM with an AMD 64 3200+
Processor. I have over 200GB of free disK space and the DVD changer is
connected via firewire. Media center has also locked up when importing
music/MP3s. I have also installed SP1 to see if that has corrected my issue.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated because I have spent
countless $$$ to setup this DVD library solution. Also Media center is the
only thing that locks. I can do other things in the OS, but I always have to
end the task to recover from the lockup. I hope that is enough information.

I have the same problem, same equipment. I'm working with Sony, they suspect
the IEEE board either on the changer or the pc. I suspect the problem is with
the changer since my other changer can load / scan unlimited movies in one
batch. Last batch was 49 movies, the faulty changer will stop at random, it
can do 5 or 35 but it freezes eventually. What I did notice is that most
freezes occur on changer to drive load retries (I can hear it trying to load
a DVD in the drive), other times it just freezes on a DVD scan, so it is
possible it is loosing communication and can't recover. Good luck, call Sony
