I recently uninstalled my antivirus/firewall (Defender Pro) and the uninstall
reported it as finished successfully. Unfortunaly, the Security Center still
reports both as present. When I turned on the windows firewall the security
center reported that I have two active firewalls. And when I tried to load
another antivirus program the antivirus install manager reported that another
antivirus was present. I have searched my system and have not been able to
find a file or reference to the Defender Pro files anywhere. I contacted the
Defender Pro support people and they were not able to resolve my problem. So
I am stuck and do not know how to remove whatever reference the security
center is holding onto. Anyone have a suggestion.

Have you tried a search of the registry for "Windows Defender" or maybe
"Defender" without the quotes.

Windows is bad about leaving junk behind in the registry.

Be careful, you can do great harm to your computer if you delete the wrong
stuff, Backup the registry before removing anything.

The OP might find useful info on the Defender web site, especially if
they have user forums; also, isn't there security-related newsgroup in
the Microsoft forums?

I had a similar problem with some AV software (maybe it was Comodo
Firewall) and I found a solution on the maker's website ... eventually
:-)
