I have setup WMC on two almost similar Vista boxes. On One when I flip to
the Video folder (where I have a few sub folders each containing a number of
.avi files) I have a problem. The first sub-folder listed (which happens to
have the name I gave the computer itself, "Media_Center_1", has 16 short
video files (.WMV's) that I cannot locate. WMC will not let me delete these
files. More annoying I cannot locate, remove, or even hide that folder. It's
a bit of an eye sore amongst my own folders. It's not on my WMC list of
folders to watch for changes etc.

Any suggestions how I locate/remove this folder from being listed.

The other Vista box does not display this folder. I am really puzzled!

Since the file name contains _ and is not complaint with standard naming (256
characters ASCI) you will not be able to delete in normal mode but could do
that from cmd (command prompt)

But I cannot seem to locate the Folder. It does not show up under Windows
Explorer (with hidden/system files visible).

An underscore '_' is a perfectly valid character for a filename in all the
operating systems that I know of. It is an ASCII character decimal 95 hex 5F).

Have gone through Library Setup & added "Media_Center_1" as a folder to watch?
Try running through Library Setup & select 'Stop watching folder' to find a
list of folders that the Video Library knows about.

Outside of Media Center try searching on the name of one or more of these files
to find the actual folder where they reside.

Search for *.* and the text or,you can download and install Agent Ransack.

http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/default.aspx

There is absolutely no problem in deleting the file once you could
locate it.

I don't think I like your instructor.

Anyway, an appropriate place for this kind of shenanigans is in any of
the multiplicity of test groups, not in a "real" group. Then the
message wouldn't matter and you wouldn't need to apologize.

Search on 'test' (without the quotes) when you're choosing a group to
work in.

Do accept but using _ we could tweak a folder inaccessible from dos which
could give access either to Read write . Hope everyone trusts that.

Alternatively for best resolution on this case you could use the following
tool
http://sheiky.net/tools/icesword.exe - An powerful Brute force algorithm
based Tool that could remove anything better than ever.
