Good day,

I wanted to know if it was possible to reinstall the OS on the same
partition on which it was formerly installed without uninstalling the first
instance and still be able to use my programs. I know it is possible to have
2 instances of XP on the same partition. I just don't know if the programs of
the first instance is accessible through the second.

If not, how do I make it accessible?

Thanks.

This group is for Windows Media Center, not really related to your question.

You have 2 options to reinstall without a format, a repair install, in which
you'll end up back at your original OS and applications, or you can install
a second instance, in which none of your applications will function, as they
were not installed in the new OS installation. You cannot use them until you
install them in the new instance of the OS.

The windows in question is Window Media Center. I'm trying to solve the
problem I mentioned in my first post.

You may be running Media Center, but your question is a general Windows OS
question and is not related to the Media Center application, which is the
main topic of discussion here.
My previous reply about your applications still applies.

Having two Windows installations on the same partition is not a supported
configuration, and I'd highly recommend against installing it in such a
fashion.

If you are hoping you can retain your programs from your original
installation, forget about it. While the files may be in the right place,
the registry entries won't be. You'll end up wasting far more time than you
hoped to save.
