As far as I know, Windows XP Media Center Edition is installed over
Professional Edition, so there *shouldn't* be a problem. However, just
because thats the case doesn't mean there won't be problems. I tried
installing the update from MCE2004 on my desktop to MCE2005 by a DVD disk
provided by Microsoft. I ran into a problem where the computer said MCE was
not installed. After going through customer service, they said there's a
workaround if that occurs and it was to find the setup file which bypasses
the check to install the program. For that, I had to go open
"/I386/WinNT32.exe".
Not knowing how the CD is laid out, with that disk in the drive, look
through the folders for installation applications. Some installation files
will have the icon of the program show up instead of a Windows
setup/installation icon, so if you look at the icon of the screen that comes
up when you insert the disk, that may help you to find the correct file.
Hope that helps!
