Hi All,

I have the following issue:

When I use the remote control using the directional keys
(up/down/left/right) I have great difficulty to select all items as for some
reason items are skipped. So if I press up once in a list of items, it
doesn't go to the item above, but is goes to the item above that one. This is
an example of course but it works like that for all directional keys. That
means that in a folder with e.g. a lot of pictures, I'm able to navigate to
about 50% if all items, so you can believe this is not workable and very
annoying.

I'm using an original Microsoft MCE remote, and (so far) haven't had any
other issues with the remote.

Cheers,

Andre

Sounds like key bounce: when you press a button, the button makes
momentary contact, loses contact, and makes contact again, all in a
small fraction of a second. The result is that two signals go out and
so the action happens twice.

I have fixed this on some remotes by opening the remote and cleaning
the underside of the buttons and the top of the circuit board, but this
method is not for the faint of heart or those who are unsure of their
skill at mechanical operations of that nature.

For a first and easy experiment, you might just try putting fresh
batteries in.

If new batteries don't help, and if my method above is too Draconian
for you, consider getting a new remote. If you can, try a friend's
remote first to see if that helps.

Hi Gene,

Thanks for your response.
I'm not going to try opening up the remote. It's a new one, I got it only
last weekend and also because I have no issues with any of the other buttons.

I cannot think of any reason other than my guess that its a software thing...

Cheers,

Sander
