Hi:

I read an earlier article that in one of the later Beta versions that the
SP3 upgrade had rendered Media Center inoperative.

Does anyone know if this current SP3 upgrade has resolved this issue? I
would hate to lose my TV capability.

Thanks

It only affects MCE 2002.

From the Release notes:

"Windows XP Media Center Edition
This issue affects Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002.

If you install Windows XP SP3 on a computer running Windows XP Media Center
Edition 2002 with SP1, Windows XP Media Center Edition may malfunction.

To avoid this, install Windows XP SP2 before you install Windows XP SP3."

In other words, this only applies if you are NOT running MCE at service pack
level two already.

Hi:

Thanks for all your input. I just downloaded and installed SP3 on XP
MCE(2005) and everything went without any known problems at this time. Could
not have been easier.

Quick cursory check indicates all other installed applications also
working fine.

Hi. I got this problem with installing SP3 too. After I installed, my media
center didn't work properly. And I have checked, my PC is a media center
edition 2002 service pack 2. But still when I installed SP3, the problem was
there. And then when I unistalled SP3, the problem with media center is still
there? Why's that? Please help me

Hi:

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with MCE (2002) after
installing SP3. As I stated I have MCE (2005) and everything is working fine
after installing SP3.

You might try reinstalling driver for your TV/Video card or display
adapter. Open Device Manager and right click on Display
Adapter>Properties>Driver Tab.

Hope reinstalling driver will resolve your problem.
