    - Gaming Crashes. I'm an avid gamer, and my current system happens to be using Windows XP Media Center Edition. A few of my games, have randomly started Crashing upon loading. I've tried updating my Graphics/Sound drivers, and all the patches etc. are dl'd for the games i'm playing. And also, it's not just the games that crash, It's the entire windows system.     - Windows XP Media Center 2005 crashes upon entering My Videos I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005. Each time I choose My Videos, MC will crash. There is notihing in the event log under Media Center. The MRU referenced videos are all in the same folders as referenced and play properly with WMP.     - Restore system point gone. I started having problems with computer on Oct 31. Lost msn email folders. Went to use restore system, which has mostly helped fix problems.     - Does Vista Media Center Support Closed Captioning in Recorded TV? Does anyone know Media Center's recorded TV will still have closed captioning in it when you play it back? I guess Media Center supports closed captioning while watching live TV. That's great, but will the TV shows you record for time shifted viewing will still have closed captioning or not? If Media Center doesn't support closed captioning in recorded TV, does anyone know what the best option would be for having closed captioning in recorded television on the PC?     - music files gone from media center. I still have files under my music in my documents. However, all the same files are gone from media center. I can not copy a cd any more, and all titles show as unknown artist and no name on tracks when i play a cd in media center.     - IR Hardware not detected Here is my configuration: Dell 8400 MCE 2005 with Emuzed Angel dual tuner card Dish 322 (one box with 2 receivers) I have connected TV1 using S-Video with Video 1, and TV2 using Composit (plus a S-V to Composit convert) with Video 2.     - Hard Drive Problem ? Ok, I have a eMachine with MC. Last night the hard drive light came on and the screen stick along with the sounds. I had to push the button to shut it down and start it again....and again within a minute or 2 the HD light came on....stayed on and the screen stick. I ran all the virus checkers etc and found no problems. I did a install of XP last nite and ran the disk checker that found no problems. right now the HD light is on for like 2 seconds and I can hear the clicking like its searching for something, then it stops and starts again. This just keeps happening and I cant get it to stop........it does not matter if I'm typing or just watching it....it keeps doing it. I'm thinking that because I reinstalled XP/MC and ran all the checkers I have that its the hard drive itself that must be bad.......somehow !     - Dual TV receiver and MCE I have Dish DVR 622 which allows me to control one HD and Standard television I have set up with HD going to my Projector in theater room and the 2nd cable going to my office. I'm trying to hook this up to media center and I'm not able to get any TV signal. On my receiver 2nd TV out put is set on Channel 73. When I scan for TV signal media center only show 4 channels. How do I switch it to 73 Wondering if Media Center does support this kind of set up I have tested by connecting the cable line to TV and it works.     - Power options changes by itself I just build a new mce to replace my old. Installed MCE (xp) since I already own a license i did not consider to buy vista. I have configured and made my new box work excactly as the old/as I want it to, except one little thing. In power options/power schemes I change monitor to never, hard drives 10 min and sleep 30 min. I push apply and OK, and that setting is working quite well until mce have done a recording (powering up by itself, record) - then the power options is changed back to the original monitor 20 min, hard drive never, sleep never. If I change it back it will stay so until next recording. If I reboot the system it still holds my settings - but as soon as it turns on by itself to record it changes my settings. I googled the issue and found 1 guy beliving it to be the latest ATI catalyst, but I'm not sure about that - uninstalled latest catalyst/driver and only installed driver after reboot - problem still there. I have a ANTEC vith VFD (and vfd application) but don't belive that is causing it either. Can I hard code something in the register to keep my settings?     - trying to play a blu-ray disc dvd I am able to play "normal" dvds with windows media center on vista. However, trying to use a blu-ray disc dvd, nothings works. Media center keeps on telling that it cannot detect a video dvd in the dvd-rom drive.     - media center unable to play fixed! i found a solution which will probably help most of the people here as i think even though peoples probs are slightly different, they are the same, it comes from the 64 bit vista, there are actually 2 instals of all your midea players,and each vid file actually selects which version to use,this is what casuse the problem, as even though you think you have the codec you need it could be the 32 bit version, but your vid file may have opened the 64 bit player, and that codec location would probably be empty, there is a simple fix, just search google or yahoo for vista codec pack 4.5.2 (for the 32 bit version) and then search for vista codec x64 components 1.3.3 (if you have a 64 bit machine) these will fix just about any codec problem in vista (the creator is shark007,many thanks to him and go give him a donation!)     - Vista Media Center Red Recording dot missing I've noticed that sometimes the red dot is missing from the notification area when I'm recording a program. I have been through the settings and it is enabled. It's not just hidden. I have tried disabling the icon then re-enabling but this seems to be an intermittent problem.     - Burning Windows Movie Maker File I'm having an issue whereby I create a Movie Maker file (in wmv format), it saves to my hard drive without a problem and also seems to burn to disc properly also. However, when I try and play the disc on another computer, the file doesn't even show up. But if I play the disc on the computer I burned it from, the file is there.     - Problem with Windows Media Center in Vista - I'm hoping that someone in the group can assit. I have a new HP Pavilion laptop with Vista Home Premium, or at least I've had it for the past 6 weeks and have loved it, however WMC throws errors during repetitive tasks. This is frequent enough that it has rendered WMC unusuable. The specific error is: An unhandled exception ('.NullReferenceException.4313665F') occurred in ehrec.exe [3788]. My product version is: Windows Media Center Windows Vista Version 6.0.6000.16484 The only two pieces of software which I have installed recently are yahoo messenger and Microsoft Silverlight. I suspec that the latter may be the cause. Either that or WMC has just got itself in a twist. I have tried system restore to a point about a week ago with no success. My question is - how can I fix this without reinstalling Vista? MS in their wisdom seem to have made it impossible to uninstall and re- install WMC in Vista HP.     - Media Center shows a green screen, no TV I recently got a computer with Vista Ultimate and went into Media Center to watch some TV but it doesn't work. The screen shows either green or blank and there is no sound. My video card drivers are up-to-date (Nvidia 8800 Ultra) and DVDs play fine. My TV tuner is a Hauppauge PVR PCI II.     - Windows Media Center does not pick up my TV Tuner I recntly bought my computer like 2 months ago and it came with a tv tuner. it was working fine intill windows vista did some kind of update and now Window Media center says that there is no Tv tuner installed when i try to watch tv. I have taken out the tv tuner card, restarted my computer and then pug it back in. the device manager says that the device is working properly. i also updated the driver for the turner.     - Help MCE + X360 Hi all, i'm in trouble trying to connect my Xbox 360 to Windows Media Center as an Extender... I have followed on-screen instructions a dozen times, but never come to a solution.. Searched on internet but found nothing... The network looks like this: One PC with WMCE 2005 hard-wired to a d-link hub X360 hard-wired to the same hub The hub connected to the router. I have also tried to leave the two connected trough the hub without internet connection, but nothing happened... When I try to connect the two, I take the security codes from the Xbox, then, followin the instructions, insert the codes when asked by the media center extender software, click next, then the Xbox starts the black WMC screen with loading circles, PC shows something like "connecting to Xbox 360" and, after some seconds, the xbox and the pc say that can't find the other... Searching in logs found this in DvcConn.log: 15.04.35 : Waiting for security codes exchange status. *********************************************************** ERROR *********************************************************** Security code exchange timed out.     - cant play most codecs in wmc hello folks,hope there is a simple fix for this, i am using vista ultimate 64, i can play all vid formats fine in windows media player, checked that all codecs are there, so from what i gather you should then be able to play all these codecs in windows media center,but no! so far i have only been able to play avi that has not been compressed (i do a bit of hobby 3d modeling and animation) and tv that has been recorded by media center itself, it lists all other videos in the library, apart from mpeg4 but it just says cant find the codec? surely it should be able to play its own microsoft codecs!?     - after AdAware removal its still appears Ran the Ad-Aware SE scan found and deleted it. So it says but when I rescan it, Win32 AdWare.Cinmus still show up (either in Normal ot Safe mode).     - Turning off the "Current Frame, CPU Load..." display on WMP11 for I am trying to find a way to turn off the green message box that appears on my screen whenever I try to play a movie in Windows Media Player 11 for XP.     - CPU usage I've noticed mu CPU is hovering around 40% or so all the time. Just started the other day. The only thing I've done to the computer is update the video card drivers (Nvidia). I did however find out that by disconnecting/un-installing my wireless card (PCI) Airlink 101- AWLH4130 my CPU usage will return to normal (0-5) at idle. As soon as I connect to it or install the drivers it hovers right at 40% or so. Any ideas on how to resolve the issue?     - NEED HELP with Product Key on Windows XP Home I am working on a computer for a friend that is running Windows XP Home. It was eat up with a virus that infected almost everything on the computer so I decided to do a new installation. My friend did not have any discs and pressing F10 at boot, like I have had success with before would not work. I had a Windows 98 disc, and a Windows XP Home Upgrade disc, so I installed Windows 98 with a generic product key and then upgraded to Windows Xp Home with my product key. I then planned on changing the product key at the time of activation, but it wouldn't take the product key on the sticker on the PC case. Now it is activated with my number and I am worried that I will get in trouble for this. I never intended to pirate the software. I tried the Magic Jelly Bean Key Changer program but it still tells me the Product key is invalid. My friend has purchased a license when they bought the PC. I have not changed the motherboard or anything so I think Microsoft should give me a new Product Key that will work. I just don't know how to go about it. Please Help.     - Create Failure with MCE while creating a DVD Hello..... In January I bought a new PC with Windows MCE. To be honest with you, creating a DVD of a show recorded with MCE is a crap shoot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have searched the 'net several times since then looking for various solutions till something works. Then things that work fine for a few weeks mysteriously stop working. Well despite my best efforts, I am stuck again. Can't get past Create Failure error anymore. The DVD create process gets up to 29% complete, gets stuck there for a while, then the Create Failure error occurs. I assume the 'memory allocation error' in the log is the problem.     - Create Failure with MCE while creating a DVD Hello..... In January I bought a new PC with Windows MCE. To be honest with you, creating a DVD of a show recorded with MCE is a crap shoot. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have searched the 'net several times since then looking for various solutions till something works. Then things that work fine for a few weeks mysteriously stop working. Well despite my best efforts, I am stuck again. Can't get past Create Failure error anymore. The DVD create process gets up to 29% complete, gets stuck there for a while, then the Create Failure error occurs. I assume the 'memory allocation error' in the log is the problem.     - New computer My wifes computer that I built for her long ago finally died a violent death. I was not able to get to the relatively new WD hard drive that I had installed in it last year. I built her a new computer and I put her old hard drive in a NexStar portable hard drive enclosure. I would like to get into the "my documents" file and recover her documents, pictures and music. As I access the drive and go to "documents and settings", then "owner" there is a pop up window that diplays "access denied" I assume due to the password that she had on the account.     - Using xbox as an extender, my picture is cut-off at the top and bo I was using my new Vista computer and my Xbox 360 as an extender on my old, standard screen TV. Worked perfectly! I got a new HD LCD TV, and now everything is slightly cut-off at the top and bottom. I have tried changing every aspect on my LCD and nothing has worked. Any thoughts?     - How do I prevent Media Center from resetting all my timers tomorro We home school and get our classes via satellite to our computer. I currently have 49 recordings scheduled every week. Every year, when the time changes, Media Center up and changes all my programmed recording times, sometimes as much as two hours. It will also list one time on the schedule, but when I click on that item, it lists a different time. Every year, one or more blockfeeds ( a week of classes is broadcast at a time) is messed up. I spend a long time on the phone with a techie one year, but he never even understood the problem. Needless to say, he didn't solve it! I am really tired of this.     - XP Professional Suddenly Strange Input Problems Windows XP Pro, fully updated. I leave my computer on almost all the time and today I reboot for the first time in a while (nothing changed), and now Windows takes forever to boot up at the status bar loading screen. During the screen, my USB headset and wireless keyboard/mouse light indications keep going on and off. After about 3 minutes, Windows boots. About every 30 seconds the mouse pointer freezes in place and doesn't move, but if you move the mouse during this time you can see where it would be (links will underline, etc). After a few seconds it'll catch up and zoom to where you've moved in in the mean time. I've also gotten 2 BSODs since this time. It's strange since nothing has happened that I'm aware of.     - MCE 2005 - No Live TV When I click LIVE TV, MCE 2005 won't do anything. Recording won't work either. It worked fine a few weeks ago, but now I can't watch Blues Clues with my daughter. :( It's almost like it has no tuner, but the TV setup process works fine (it finds my cable signal). Also, my WinTV2000 program works ok. I think the problem has something to do with the MCE or MP11 updates. (?) I believe I have the latest updates for MCE, MP, Tuner, and Video Card. Hi,
I have noticed that my TV recordings are now having trouble with consistant
volume. i.e., normal sounds get quieter. I do not experience the same
problem whild watching TV only when I record it. I have an Angel Luminate
Tuner Card. I'm using the i/o jacks from my Digital Cable box.

Has anybody else had this problem? It sounds like a 'limiter' or auto
volume level 'compression' I turned down the volume on my digital cable
box. Never had to do that before. I will see if THAT helps when I make my
next recording...
