Thanks for taking a look. Here's what I know. The EPG was updating fine
until till about three weeks ago. The guide will no longer
automatically update when I log into windows even though I have it set
up to do so. When I manually update, the system tray icon shows that
the guide has been updated successfully but when I actually use the
guide in MY TV there's nothing but "No Data Available" displayed. Ther
are no error codes displayed. The only thing I have noticed is under the
About Guide Data in Settings, at the bottom under Language, it displays
a start and end date which seems to coincide with when the problem
started. The start date is only like two weeks earlier though. I have
been running MCE 2004 for years with no incidents. Very peculiar
because it's showing that the guide has been downloaded but not
displaying the contents. Any info or a nudge in the right direction
would be great. Thanks again

Thanks for the info Eric. I stumbled upon that blog about a week ago and
tried the suggestions in paragraphs 1, 5, and 6. They were all
completed sucessfully but did not help out. I did not try paragraph 2's
suggestion because I am not that computer savvy and didn't understand
what he was talking about. I tried to search for the folders in the
directory and found that under the microsoft folder, there was no ehome
folder in it. I searched for the ehome folder and found it elsewhere
but the epg folder had nothing in it. I moved the ehome folder to the
windows folder and have done nothing else.
Any suggestions as to why the ehome folder wasn't there in the first
place? Also, Does anyone know where the epg data is kept after it is
downloaded. My problem is that my computer is showing that the data is
being downloaded succesfully but I get "no data available" when I use
the guide. What files should I look for to find out where the data is
going?

oh. There really must be an ehome and epg folder for this to work. I'd be
very, very nervous about copying folders about - MCE should create the
folders, and if it hasn't, it is never going to work.

Some of the folders will be system folders and are likely to be hidden. So
in the file explorer, make sure you have gone to tools, folder options, view
and you have ticked 'show hidden files and folders' and unticked 'hide
protected operating system files'. Press apply, and then press Apply to all
Folders.

The folder will be something like c:\Documents and
settings\Allusers\Application Data\Microsoft\Ehome . This will not be in your
Documents and settings folder.

If there really is no folder, then I'm struggling to think how the ehsched
is running - if it isn't, the guide is never going to work.

I'd check this by going to Control panel, picking admin tools, and then
services. Scroll down the list of services and look for Ehsched. Is it
running? If it isn't, try starting it. If it is, try restarting it. If that
looks like it is now started, try to download the guide again and see if the
folder gets some content.

Good luck!

Thanks again for the reply Eric. After using your suggestion to unhide
the system folders, I found that the folders do exist in the location
you stated. The Epg folder shows updated content with todays date. So
at least I am now going in the right direction. Unfortunately, my guide
still displays "no info avail".
Under Admin tools- services, I found a file called Media center
scheduler service. No ehsched file. But when I double clicked on it,
it showed that it was ehsched.exe. It showed that it was started, I
restarted but still the same results. I did notice that it's path to
executable was not in the folder you are talking about. Does this make
a difference? I did another search and found that ehsched was in three
different locations. None of which were in c:\Documents and
settings\Allusers\Application Data\Microsoft\Ehome
The data still shows that it's getting downloaded successfully but for
some reason, will not display while using the guide. Thanks again for
any help you can provide me.

I just solved the problem. My guide is finally working again after a
month of being down. Here's what happened. About a month ago, I was
checking to see what day a certain date falls on. Well, I had clicked
on Aug 28 by mistake which had changed my system clock to that date. I
didn't realize what I had done till the next day and changed it to the
correct date immediately. During that time, media center must have
downloaded the data into the epg folder with that date on it. So the
guide must have been reading that file first even though it showed a
file with todays date. I deleted the future file. Restarted my computer
just to be safe and everything seems fine now. The peculiar thing was
that my system displyed no error codes like some of the
suggestions/solutions I have seen. Thank you for all your time and help
Eric. Your suggestion to unhide system files pushed me in the right
direction. I decided to check things out a second time and found
success. If your ever in Lowell, MA I'll buy you a beer! Thanks again!!
