OK. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop. I installed a Western Digital
Protege internal hard drive as a slave. The jumpers are correct, and
everything is hooked up properly. The BIOS recognizes that the hard drive is
there, but it is not showing up in "My Computer". I have gone into Computer
Management, and tried to assign a drive letter using the Disk Management
Tool, but, while Computer Management recognizes the hard drive, and says it
is "Healthy" and "Active", the options on the right-click menu are all grayed
out except for "Delete Partition" and "Help". I should also mention the hard
drive is also showing up in Hardware Profiles. What do I do now???

I assume you do not have anything on the new drive yet.

In the case that you plugged in the new drive and it shows in Disk Manager,
you need to partition the drive and format each partition.

You partition before you can format. If you have a partition, you can format
that partition.

All can be done in Windows Disk Manager.
