Previously, I had problems with my computer not shutting down properly and
the the "Blue Screen" (BS - hope that is an ok abbreviation) of death. I
re-did the whole system. Everything was great; a lot faster too.

Then, I installed Media Center. Again, the computer would not shutdown
properly and I again have the BS again. I get the error message in the BS
mode - DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. The computer then goes through the whole
hard drive and checks it out. When the computer comes up again Microsoft
tells me it is caused by NVidia Grahics Driver. I have update the driver and
also the Motherboard. I still have the problem and do not know what to do
about it.

I have another question. I have an ATi HDTV Wonder PCI tuner card. I get
it to accept the digital channels, but it does not read in nor ask about the
analog channels that come through the cable from Verison's CAT5 cable. Is
that normal? Without Media Center it did both digital and analog.

Thanks.

Check to be sure your computer and all devices are on the Hardware
Compatibility List (HCL) and have WHQL signed and certified drivers. You
can use Sigverif.exe to check for unsigned drivers.

[Start>Run>Sigverif.exe>OK]

Check for driver updates that may be available for your hardware.

Regarding second part of the problem:-

Thanks for your advice. I found out that following are not on the HCL.

[c:\windows\nvtmpinst]
nvcpl.chm Unknown None Not Signed
N/A
nvcpl.cpl Unknown 1.5.600.0 Not Signed
N/A
nvcplui.exe Unknown 1.5.600.0 Not Signed
N/A
nvexpbar.dll Unknown 1.5.600.0 Not Signed
N/A

I have tried to update the NVidia drivers now many times. When I first had
installed Vista Ultimate, in MS updates, it came up that I should install
NVidia updates. However, the installation failed. I never had a chance to
do it again, until MS told me what was the problem. Therefore, I did install
the latest graphics driver through the NVidia website. It told me it was
successful. When I went to shut down my computer right after that, I
received the Blue Screen (BS) again and when I clicked on the NVidia link, I
saw the motherboard's update too. I tried that, but it did not work. If MS
showed that the NVdia on my video card (The EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce
8800GTS 320MB, GA 320-P2-N811-AR with NVidia chipset). I have the Asus
P5N32-E SLI Plus 755 Mother board

Should I delete the NVidia software in Device Drivers and try again? Do I
have a big problem if NVidia is not on MS's HCL?

Thanks for your help. I look forward to more.

About my problem with the HDTV Wonder TV tuner and not being able to get the
anolog signal, I have OS - Vista Ultimate. The directions are for XP Media
center from 20005. Will those directions work on Vista?

I would go to evga.com for the Video card drivers.
I think this is the correct driver for your card.
http://www.evga.com/8800driver/

If this is not the correct card, click on Download Driver on menu on the
left.

I did download the Vista 32-bit for the video (as advised) two times. It was
the same program that I had downloaded through the NVidia website. But I had
received a message saying that the install was not successful. I have just
tried the install using your link, I did not get an error message. However,
when the computer restarted after the download, two times, I got the the Blue
Screen (BS) again. I was refered by MS to the NVidia site just like before.
I don't know what else to do.

Thanks. I look forward to other possible solutions.

Take a look in Device Manager.

You should have only one Display Adapter. If you have more than one Display
Adapter, remove all of them and reboot.

After the reboot you will only have a low resolution generic video display,
should be good enough to install the EVGA video driver.

Re: Blue screen after Installing Media Center by Kathy

Thanks for your input, but I only did have one divice driver under display
adapter drivers. I also went to the EVGA site as suggested by Sugupta
previously, and downloaded version of the display adapter 169.44. It told me
that I had had version 169.25. This happened to me two times as I have
removed and updated the controller and display adapter using the Window's
updates, the NVidia website, and the EVGA sites. At one time, I had removed
the network, bcause it had failed to update on a previous Windows Update, I
thought briefly I might have resolved the problem. It had been a long time
and many tries at Nvidia and EVGA sites, since I was able to use Window's
updates.

All of a sudden, I decided to try windows updates (when I recieved the
usual error link) and discovered that the new software that had failed when I
originally was asked for the updates, came up again. I was able to go
forward with the updates, and when I checked the history list of "updatings",
Nvidia display and the Nvidia NForce Networking controller showed both had
updated successfully. I thought that I was home free, but immeditely, I was
back to the blue screen and the links to Windows Updates and NVidia websites
again.

I do appreciate the quick response you all had sent to me the times had
written last week. I look forward, hopefully, to more advice and suggestions.
