Look for other causes. One fragmented file is not causing your computer to
run "badly."

Maybe start here.

Check that you have sufficient free space on the hard drive. Windows XP
defragmenter program requires that you have at least 15 percent free space
for Defrag to completely and adequately defragment it. If you have an 80Gig
HDD this means you need about 11Gigs free for the program to work. If you
cannot create space by deleting unnecessary files you may have to upgrade to
a bigger HDD. If unsure how to do this contact a reputable computer repair
centre and ask how they can help you.

Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Select View Report and
click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents
Folder and post a copy. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it
is more informative.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also select
Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp, More
Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System Restore
point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.
