xp 5.1.2600
iExplore v7.0.5730.11

BUT don't think its a version problem

On web access of maps - eg Google maps internet explorer is so so slow.
Initial page says waiting for n images for ages. eventually on opening page
says areas of the map not available at this zoom level (when I know they
are!).

On search for specified address same problem.

Same problem with all map web access

Similarly with streaming video web pages - the streaming video doesn't work

Non of these prtoblems use to occur!

for other web access have 3 to 6 megabits speed

TRIED:
two virus/spyare cleaning apps - PC Guard & Fsecure
uninstall Java ( because of similar problems when gooled "slow google maps
load")

What's more - while slow google maps load other tabs also hung
What's more shut down Internet explorer and restart - still very slow -
asif - waiting still for previous losd to complete!

HELP!!!!!

For a fuller picture, I suggest you download/install the latest version of
Firefox and use it to do some browsing. This will possibly narrow the
problem to an Internet browser issue or a general computer issue.
