Windows XP Pro Sp2

Microsoft PS/2 Port Mouse (Intellipoint) Optical Mouse

Anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes after I boot, the mouse freezes. Any
animation running at the time will continue to run but I have no mouse action.
I have followed the instructions in "Help and Support" , uninstalled in Device
Manager, restarted and let it install itself two times but there is no change.
I have to restart when it happens and lose any information I have entered
while word processing.

Can anyone help?

Time for new batteries?

P.S. You can usually save a word processing document from the keyboard.
In Microsoft Word, for example, press CTRL+S. Word also has a feature
that automatically saves documents every 'x' minutes - you choose the
interval. I'll bet most other word processors also have these two features.

Amazing Leonard. There is a Microsoft KB Article which makes your point
and adds some other suggestions,

The Microsoft wireless keyboard or wireless mouse does not respond as
expected

A new mouse cured the problem right away.
