I lately ( for a few weeks) get this message when I click on some hyperlinks
(but by far not all hyperlinks, but many)

"Connection Interrupted

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please
retry"

I am using Windows XP, Mozilla Firefox most recent version, a HP 4200+Ghz
CPU, and 3 GB RAM. The server is Comcast.net in the MD. area.

Any ideas?

I would open a Command Prompt, and type:
TraceRT <address of server>
See if some part of your path to those sites is failing.

click the Ratings button. Voting helps the web interface.

I want to do a tracert on comcast.net (my ISP) and it always times out, yet
I can get e-mail and see newsgroups.

What does it mean then and what to do to do a tracert?

Go to start..run..cmd and enter "tracert comcast.net" wothout the quotes.
You can do the same command with an IP address or name such as comcast.net.

Do you have something like ZoneAlarm running? I just tried the tracert
command and got my normal ZA pop-up telling me that 'tracert is trying
to access the internet'. I have to take positive action (i.e. click OK)
to let the command go through. If I don't, the command eventually times
out.

This is not a Windows or Internet Explorer problem.

Did you 'power cycle' your cable modem (and your router, if you have one)?

Post your question in the Comcast Support Forums. Go to comcast.net,
sign in, go to Help and follow the link to the Help and Support Forum.
It's the best place to get knowledgeable help about your HSI.

By the way: The server that sends you e-mail is not the same one that
connects you to the web.

I shall try the Comcast site.

I have powered down both the Comcast modem and the new Netgear router. That
makes no difference to not being able to ping or the timeout when I want to
do tracert.
