    - newsgroups don't stay after synchronizing After a week of battling with Verizon, I finally got my newsgroups back. Now I can't keep them in oe6 after they are synchronized. I can get them to download but after i get out and come back they're gone, I should be able to keep them to read offline. Has anyone else had this problem, I checked all the options with my other newsgroups in OE6, which work fine, Somehow this Verizon newsgroup must be corrupt and I don't know how to fix it. is anyone familiar with this problem, I could use the help.     - Default volume=-9640 setting Hi -- Something odd has begun to happen in Outlook Express. A google search reveals hundreds of people writing in about it, but so far I've found no fix and am hoping that one of the experts here may have a suggestion. A friend asked for assistance when none of her midi files would play in Outlook Express. When I checked her code, I noticed that "volume=-9640" was included in her BG sound tag. As soon as that value was changed to zero, all was normal again. Since she had no explanation for where that value came from, I checked my own desktop system. Sure enough, OE inserts "volume=-9640." Next I checked my notebook computer which has just had XP reinstalled after a complete reformat and everything is normal on that computer. Only midi files are affected; all other sound file types play as before. No Windows system files are affected. Obviously, something has caused this unwanted change.     - 2 issues 1-Could someone please tell me where I can go to find out what boxes I should check and not check for both mail and newsgroups? 2-I have set up my mail account but before it used to ask for my password when I opened O.E. now it does not. What am I doing wrong? I have win xp sp3 with O.E.6. (I wonder if the new service pack is preventing me from configuring so I have some privacy and get a request for a password when i open it. I used to see a sign in box with the same user name I have with my Comcast. net account and it asked for the same password as the one I use for the Comcast.net account.     - View BCC once sent I have sent some emails with OE 6.0.2900. My email was in the TO field and the rest were in the BCC field. So far, the only way to see who got the email is to click on File | Properties and then choose Details. Is there an easier way to see who got the email so that it shows the BCC recipents to me?     - E-mail or posts with attachments Sometimes I get emails with jpeg attachments and when I open them the images are displayed below the text. This applies to attachments in binary newsgroups, as well. I know that jpeg attachments can be dodgy, so what I would like to know is, if the images appear below the email or post, are the files actually opened, or is it that only by double-clicking the file attachment and opening them that way could they create a potential danger? I use AVG Free (without email scanner) and thought that I could right-click an email or post in OE before opening it and I would have the option to Scan with AVG just to make sure, but this is not the case, unfortunately. I can scan with AVG if I save emails or posts to Desktop before opening it, but would any infection they may contain be released by the "save as" action, please?     - E-Mail sending receipt issue I am having issues sending e-mails with read receipts. I receive e-mails from contacts with a read receipt message asking me if I want to send the return receipt.     - IE6 keeps generating errors and closing IE6 has worked fine for a long time on my Win2000 computer. Lately it won't work for more than a few minutes, always giving an error message that "iexplore.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows".
