When I lost my profile and created a new one I lost my signature file. I do
have backups. Is there a way to restore a signature file? Where should I
look for it?

Thanks.

Did your backup include OE items located in the registry?

This is the location they would have been in.

1.. Close OE and then In Regedit, navigate to this key:

|--HKEY_CURRENT_USER
|-----Identities
|--------{GUID}
|-----------Software
|--------------Microsoft
|-----------------Outlook Express
|--------------------5.0

where GUID is the Global Unique IDentifier for your Identity.

2.. Under that key, you will find the following sub-keys, among
others:

|-----------------------Block Senders
|-----------------------Rules
|-----------------------Signatures

Thank you. I do have Acronis True Image backups of the entire C:\ (system)
partition and can therefore find that registry finding.

I wonder if regedit can open a backed up registry file (on an external
drive) without needing to restore that partition to the system?

You may be able to restore the sigs following these directions, but it may
be easier to create new ones.

Surely, the signature is in one of the emails in Sent Items.

That is what I decided to do. Actually I have several different signatures
I use depending on the email and I was being lazy. If there had been a
single index file to restore it would have simplified things.
