        • File Assssociation problem Hi All Unable to open an OE email with a notation stating, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in Folders Options control panel." Have read, Msdn, "Introduction to File Associations", but can't seem to decipher it. • Need a mail rule for anyone NOT in address book I am trying to set up a mail rule in OE6 so that any mail that arrives from someone that is not present in my address book is automatically moved to a particular location. I want this so that it makes it easier for my family to keep away from dodgy emails that may arrive as we have started to get some spam arriving after many years of nothing. I already have rules to colour code messages from people we know, so my family is using this to keep away from other mail as it will still be coloured standard black. If it is not possible to define the rule I would like, I will have to put up with the colour coding. TIA Martin Tag: kees van lieshout Tag: 359490

        • Inbox contents simply vanished In OE 6, Windows 98, the entire contents of the Inbox just vanished after restarting computer. There were about 4 weeks of e-mail in there. Other folders do not seem to be affected. I looked in the Outlook Express folder on my hard drive, and the Inbox file at this address: C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{9226D728-E116-11DA-8D61-00045A5FABE0}\Microsoft\Outlook Express was down to something like 130 KB, containing just a lot of unreadable code. I normally move Inbox contents to other folders regularly to keep Inbox from getting too large. I've never seen anything like this. The contents of a huge file simply vanishing. • Where are OE's settings stored? At my home office, a user's computer began making odd noises which turned out to be the hard disk in the throes of death. Our tech consultant managed to salvage quite a bit, but they can't find his pst files from Outlook (not OE). They're not in the usual place, and it's suspected they might be on the office server. I don't know what they've done so far to check this theory, but never mind that. A couple of years ago, I relocated my OE message store to c:\oe\messages, which makes it much easier for me to find the files and do backups. Less cryptic path than the default. Pondering the other user's predicament, I wondered what would happen if I needed to find my message store, but I couldn't use Tools, Options, Maintenance for some reason. Obviously, I could search the disk for all occurrences of inbox.dbx, and one of the search results would be correct. But, I wondered about searching the registry. I tried that, using the exact path to my message store folder, and got no results at all. Why? Where does OE store that config info, if not in the registry? Tag: kees van lieshout Tag: 359405

        • OE crashes when switching identity I have fresh install of Wind-XP all patches have been loaded including all current patches for Outlook Express (Help About shows OE version of 6.00.2900.2180). When switching identities outlook express will sometimes totally disappear with no error message or any other anomalous behavior. When attempt to restart Outlook Express I get the hour glass for a few seconds then the hour glass disappears but outlook express does not start...no splash screen, error message or status message is given. To start Outlook Express I must either log off or reboot. This gets very old..what can I do? Thanks for all and any advice. Francis Elers. Tag: kees van lieshout Tag: 359402

        • Intermittent Missing Email Some of my email is missing, as in it never arrives at my inbox, as in I wouldn't even know if it weren't for the fact that people ask...Did I get their email? I use Outlook Express 6.0, never had a problem until a friend sent me an email that just kept popping into my inbox repeatedly. I scanned for a virus and found nothing. I have two email profiles on my computer, one business and one professional. Neither are working correctly. I do get an occassional email on those profiles, but if I had to guess I would say maybe one out every 10 arrive and I don't know where the other's go. ( Not back to the sender. ) I deleted the two and then re-did them and that did nothing. I've created two new accounts and they seem to be working. Additionally, I put my profile on my husband's computer and our laptop (laptop is Vista w/ Outlook) and what I've discovered is that if my computer is turned off I receive email for the two old profiles on either of the other two computer's, but not if it's on. It's like my computer is grabbing the email and putting it somewhere I can't locate. Is this possible and if so what can I do to stop it from continuing and how can I retrieve what I never received? • OE low disk or low memory errors I keep getting errors when using Outlook Express saying it can not display messages or folders due to low disk or low memory errors. No problems with other programs, and I have plenty of disk space and 512 MB or RAM- the same that I have on my other computer with no problems. Using Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron laptop. Any suggestions? Tag: kees van lieshout Tag: 359374

Spam is effectively blocked by spam blockers like SpamArrest, Qurb, MailWasher Pro, and more to give you a spam free inbox. Wondering on the best way to kill spam? Well, spam blockers and anti spam software is the answer to it. What is best about them is that they save you the manual task of deleting the junk mails one by one yourself. Not only that, they prevent the unsolicited mails from entering your mailbox. You may be in the favor of taking self made precautionary actions like lodging a report to the suitable ISP, sharing your email ID with only those whom you know well, using web based email service for other uses, trying to avoid spam bots, configuring your email so that the identity feature is disabled during downloading images.......read more information !!!! visit at : http://the-spam-blockers.blogspot.com http://the-spam-blockers.blogspot.com -spam blockers- Tag: kees van lieshout Tag: 359368

        • Missing E-Mail I have a problem with e-mail disappearing from a personal folder. I have a message rule setup to move e-mail from the inbox to a specified personal folder. The personal folder had Approx. 500 messages in it and the started to disappear one by one each time I opened the folder. I am running IE6 and system is virus free. Is there a limitation on personal folder size? If not, does anyone have any idea what is causing this problem? Thanks, Don Burklo Tag: kees van lieshout Tag: 359358

        • Multiple errors OE To make a long story short, I switched back from Thunderbird to OE; fewer log-in problems. I also had to chnage file associations form Thunderbird .eml files to those files associated with OE. I am not sure if this is the source of the problems, but I got a message from ISP that there were new newsgroups. I was looking through the list and chose a group I wanted to add and got a message that OE encountered a problem and had to close. "Hanging app was msimn.exe" Then, a Dr. Watson PostMortem Debugger failure message. Then there was the Fault Bucket message 45257867 I tried the same thing over again and got the same error messages. I can't add any newsgroups without OE crashing. I have had log in problems with ISP. Only recognizes my user ID and password 75% of the time via email client and 100% of the time using webmail. Perhaps there's corruption somewhere. Can someone give me a hand to get started to correct these issues. I can get mail and I can get and read Usenet messages without difficulty. I have WinXP SP2, all up to date, AVAST, Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, Comodo Firewall and Super-Anti-Spyware. My guts tell me there's no easy fix and there is pain ahead. Thanks.
