The last few days I've noticed that Outlook Express is no longer my
default email when responding to websites. I get the Word one, and it
takes too long to come up. How do I get OE back and put Word out of the
picture?

Is the *Word* one MS Outlook? You got an MS Outlook update and it made
Outlook the default e-mail client.

Make OE the default e-mail client:
http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx

For links in e-mail:
http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx

And:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098

Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options
