I recently restored an image of a HD and without OE 6 setup on it, another
group setup OE6 on it and now I need to put the CONTACTS back in Outlook
Express. I have found the PST file on the old backup of the pc but don't
know how to use it recover the contacts. When I look on the pc I don't find
a PST file on it. The pc has XP Pro. Can someone tell me how to get the
contacts back into OE6 from the old PST file ?

Outlook Express can't do anything with the (Outlook) PST file unless Outlook
is installed and using the file.

OE doesn't use or read PST files; open Outlook, set your PST file as its
default and export the Contacts as a CSV file. OE's Address Book can import
from.

I'm not real familiar with OE so can you tell me how to set OE to use my PST
file as it's default (you said it did not use PST files). Thank you for your
response, but can you give me a little more info.

OE cannot use the PST file at all.

If (1) Outlook was also installed on the machine running OE and (2) OL was
using this PST file, you could (3) export OL contacts to a CSV file which
you could then (4) import into Address Book via Address Book: File | Import
| Other Address Book.

Otherwise, you're SOL.

If you were previously using Outlook Express on the PC, then the
contacts should be in a WAB file, not the PST.

The Windows Address Book (WAB)
http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm

If you were really using the PST file, then you had to have been using
Office Outlook program, and will need to reinstall that program if not
installed.
