A neighbor has a problem forwarding. The email she sends is received and the
subject line indicates it is forwarded, but there is no forwarded message
included.

WIN XP and hotmail

Suggestions please

Are you saying that your neighbor is using Hotmail or your are or both?

Is she and/or you using Outlook Express to access Hotmail or the Hotmail
web site?

Once she starts the forward and before sending, does she see the message
text in the message composition window?

After sending, does she see the message text in the Sent Items folder?

I presume that you are receiving one of these messages and not seeing
the message text. If you look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3 in OE) do
you see the missing text?

Do you see any indication of an attachment?

She gets to hotmail via MSN.com

The message to be forwarded appears in the composition window.

No! and sending it to herself also comes up empty.

I looked at one she sent to me and there was no text

Not at all.

Something I noticed (I just got back from a first hand look) is that the
Hotmail screen says "text only". Looking at OE the option for email is
checked for HTML. I could not find any place in the Hotmail setup that would
have set it to text only. This whole problem started about 10 days ago. She
had twoAV programs installed. I tried deleting them both. The free one left
peacefully, but good old Norton leaves pieces of itelf everywhere. Some
files can't easily be removed because they are in use even though I removed
Norton from the start menu and rebooted

Below is the source from one she sent to me. The email addys have been
scrubbed a bit for privacy.

I've seen several reports in other newsgroups of Hotmail users saying
that messages that they are sending are arriving empty. They hadn't
mentioned that they were forwarded messages. But sounds more like a
Hotmail issue and not specific to your friend.

I'm a little confused by your example. I presume that your friend is
Marlene and you are cbress.

I'm guessing that you cut out a lot at the top of the message source.
From the look of it, there should have been a section

Content-Type: text/plain;
charset="iso-8859-1"

It looks like Marlene is forwarding a message from her Sent folder that
she previously forwarded to you. Perhaps you had her do that as a test.

Is there any problem if she starts a new message rather than forwarding?

What about replies?

What if you send her a simple text message and have her forward it back
to you?

In any case, this doesn't seem related to Outlook Express and is a
Hotmail web problem.
