        • How do I dump the Identity Login after upgrading to Office Outlook I finally heeded Microsoft's warnings and installed Outlook 2003 after resisting for so long ("resistance is futile"), and uninstalled Outlook Express after being satisfied everything was migrated over and functioning. Previously, during my time with Express, something (Norton, I think) triggered the Identity Login dialog to pop up in the beginning of any session, Express running or not. This is a known problem with Norton and I've learned to live with it all this time. After performing the switch from Express to 2003 and uninstalling Express, I figured it would go away, being a part of Express, but lo and behold, the same dialog still pops up asking for a profile (I assume because of the same Norton Liveupdate issue). How do I get rid of it? Jon Tag: qqq Tag: 362847

        • Mailboxes lost after crash Xpost to microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress Follow-up to microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general Hi all, Running Outlook Express 6.0 on XP Pro. During the time OE was compacting messages, my PC crashed and was dead. I could manage to get it running again, but most of my mailboxes are now empty. The DBX-files are all there. How can I get my mail back? Many of the mails are very important to me. Thanks in advance for your help. With kind regards, Fokke Nauta Tag: qqq Tag: 362808

        • What Happened To The Connection Box In WLM? The Connection Box which showed progress in the downloading and transmission of files, with Hide, Stop and Details Buttons... It was a very useful progress indicator in OE -- as well as a handy switch to turn downloading, or transmission off ---- quickly WLM seems to have only an anemic little textual message in the lower right corner... Or am I missing something? DSH Tag: qqq Tag: 362803

        • Backup folders? Where does the backup of OE folders reside? I have a XP SP2 unit that has a number of .bak files in the Recycle Bin. Can these .bak files be restored back into OE, and if so, will there overide other files within OE? Does the entire 'store' get backed up or just the messages by themselves? • How do I save e-mails? I have a lot of e-mails saved in folders I created in OE6. I'm think they're bogging down my OE and causing it to lock up or run slow. How do I save e-mails from OE 6 folders to my hard drive or another location? I created a folder in "My Documents" to save them there. That's works fine until I try to save two e-mails with the same title (example: Re:). Then it asks if I want to overright which I don't. How can I move my e-mails and save all of the ones I want to? • message problems Hi I hope some clever person out there can help me. I have a broadband cable connection with Virgin Media and Outlook Express 6 running on Vista. I have a PC & my partner has a laptop. We have separate email addresses. I connected his laptop through a router, so that he gets his email & I get mine - this worked well for some time. However, now he's getting all of mine as well as his. I wasn't getting any at all so I tried disconnecting everything and starting again. Now, he still gets my emails but at least I get them as well. I have never had the problem the other way round, ie I never get his emails. How can I get back to how it was - his for him, mine for me. Thanks Gran Tag: qqq Tag: 362767

        • Help.. Lost Everything In OE6 My wife turned on her computer today and launched OE. It opened but all her added folders were gone, her regular folders were empty, the only thing left was her Address Book. It looked like a fresh install of OE (except the Address Book was there). Oh, there was one message in the In Box. The first message you get from MS saying Microsoft Outlook Express... Welcome to Outlook Express 6. It was dated 10-11-2007. I've never seen anything happen like this before. All her Saved, Sent, etc., emails were gone. I had just run a Norton AV full scan two days ago and it came up clean. Any ideas on what happened? Thanks for the help. Mac -- MacKenrick Tag: qqq Tag: 362727

        • Outlook Express opens connections to my news server on it's own! I use Outlook Express for accessing newsgroups (like this one). I find Outlook Express opens connections to the news server all on it's own so that when I actually try to read or send a message I get errors that I already have the maximum allowed number of connections to the server so I can't read or send. This is extremely tedious and can make using newsgroups a very frustrating process. Is there any way I can stop (or limit) this weird Outlook Express behaviour? I'm using Windows XP Home with SP3. -- Brian Gregory. (In the UK) ng@bgdsv.co.uk To email me remove the letter vee. Tag: qqq Tag: 362726

        • Sending e-mail problems I have Windows XP SP2 with Outlook Express. Recently, when sending my e-mails I get a window that comes up saying "! MSI must be launched thru Setup" and then immediately another window that says "CIB Please wait while Windows configures CIB." I have no idea what either of these is. After a little experimenting I found that just closing the windows with those messages about 5 or 6 times (because they pop right back up again that many times) finally eliminates them and it seems my e-mails gets sent normally after that. Does anyone know what these windows mean, and what can I do to get rid of the problem? Other than that, my Outlook Express seems to work fine, as it always did before this started. Thanks. -- "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have." Thomas Jefferson Tag: qqq Tag: 362718

        • OE won't recognize DBX folders Don't know why, but OE suddenly stopped recognizing many of the dbx folders in the default directory. In older versions, there used to be a couple of files you could delete, and the next time you opened OE it would recognize all your folders. I've tried deleting folders.dbx, but that doesn't work. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Tag: qqq Tag: 362706

        • Where does the problem lie ? Recently I have experienced several intermittent periods of perhaps 10 or 12 hours when I could not get into Internet Explorer, nor could I access Outlook Express on line. A check with a friend who uses the same ISP confirmed that he could access without any trouble so there was no general problem at Pipex so far as I could tell. However I was clearly connected to the internet via my wireless router, and even as I watched, my Local Area Network Status showed that packets were being both sent and received. Furthermore my Anti-virus program was updated with new signature files without any problem during the period when I could not get access. I cannot therefore understand where the problem lies. I attempted to use the diagnostic tool which displays on Internet Explorer if you cannot get access, but sadly the log I printed has been destroyed and I cannot recall any detail. I do know that it referred to "DNS" and "the server" in some way, but that may not help. Any ideas ? Is the connection for my Antivirus Signature download independent of my ISP - it seems it must be? I obviously don't understand the mechanism and will be obliged for help. -- Regards, Jack Sadie jaxalad-buying@yahooREMOVE.co.uk Tag: qqq Tag: 362703

        • How to deal with Gibberish, strange e-mials? Hi: For the past several days, I started receiving strange, gibberish e-mails which I neither contacted nor responseded. It occurs almost every day, ... some day, even two, gibberish e-mails. It's easy to say, ... just 'delete' them, all, however one major concern is that one of e-mails stated regarding credit card that of course, I can NOT read because of either, foreign language or gibberish e-mails. My question is now, ... How to deal with those, strange and gibberish e-mails, all of which appears to be an exact same person who is e-mailing me? Thanks in advance for any help.
