Hello

Why does IE empty the forward pages list when navigating to a new
page ? Sometimes this can be annoying.

Because your Forward browing has changed direction.

Could you please be more explicit ? I don't know what to make of this
sentence.

I know the idea is that since you didn't press back, you don't have a
forward to go to. That is, forward just undoes one or more backs. OK,
but I mean, wouldn't it be better if they let the forward pages as
they are when going to a new page ? What's the point of losing them ?

Say you browse (in one IE window) to abc.com | def.com | ghi.com | jkl.com.

Then you use the Back button to return to the second page you'd visited
(i.e., def.com), and then you open a link to xyz.com in this same window:
The Forward button cannot offer ghi.com or jkl.com because your browsing has
changed direction (i.e., abc.com | def.com | xyz.com).

Keep in mind that IE History gives you a way to return to pages you'd
visited before.

OK, so why wouldn't it be better that at this moment (after I've
navigated to xyz.com) the forward button still offer ghi.com and
jkl.com ?

I can't comment on that other than to say that IE doesn't do it.

OK, I think I understand your position. Thank you.
But, if you'd like to experiment how it would be if IE did as I said,
you can use this:

http://www.download.com/IntelNav/3000-12777_4-10844282.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10844283

It's a little IE toolbar written by, you've probably guessed it,
myself. I hope you'll forgive my little publicity stunt.
There's no need to worry about malware, it's on Download.com so it's
thoroughly tested. Also, there are no pop-ups, ads, not even an auto-
update feature.
If you become interested in more details, you're most welcome to visit

http://www.intelnav.com

Again, no need to worry about security, it's just text and pictures so
you can go with scripting etc. disabled.

Regards
V. Sim.

Axe or no axe, it's a good question. I hope you'll agree that much.
