    - Runtime Error Line : 50 I ALWAYS get an error dialog just before I see weather.com displayed. "A Runtime Error has Occurred. Do you wish to Debug? Line: 50 Error : Expected 'while' ". It never responds to Yes or No - just disappears. I get this on a W2K PC on a W2K server network. I don't get the error on a W98 PC. I can't see where it comes from, what language or anything else.     - IE - Opening .pdf files I have a wesbsite I am publishing and when I try to open the .pdf files I get the pop up box that asks if I want to "Open, Save etc." The Open option is ghosted out and when I click Save I get an error message that the file is not available. I know that there is nothing wrong with the files as I have accessed them from my other computer. How do I change option in OE to let me actually "open" the file.     - "Lock the Toolbars" moves custom toolbar to a new line... I can lock a custom toolbar at the beginning of a line that contains either the Standard Buttons, Links, or Address Bar. However, when I position the custom toolbar at the end of either of these lines (or the menu bar) and then click "Lock the Toolbars", the custom toolbar is moved to a separate line.     - IE loading incorrect link All of a sudden some web pages are not loading correctly. But what's worst is that when I load a web page and then hit a button "say to load a forum or go to an article" windows explorer loads a totally different web sight. The one most coming up is something called FAST SEARch. I have done spywhere scans and even turned the spywhere program off but it didn't resolve it. Most of the favorites have disappeared, a few remain. I tried to import Favorites, but it makes no change- it's as if it is looking in the wrong place. If I go to Organize favorites, it's the same whacked deal. If I go to Add To Favorites; I can see the original ones I want to use (but they aren't the ones displayed in the browser's session that you would use to navigate).     - Dang these 3rd Party Browser Extensions I got error messages on my browser everytime I brought up a site, such as CNN, Foxnews, ESPN, etc. These error messages went away when I disabled 3rd Party Browser extensions on IE6. I have used Spybot and Adaware and they have helped me eradicate lots of parasites, data miners, etc. But, unless I always disable 3rd Party Browser extensions, I still get error messages.     - URL Length I have an interesting situation. I am supporting an app that opens a page via a very long URL (1723 characters). In IE 6, it takes 3 minutes or more to open, in Netscape it opens within five seconds. Interestingly, if I reduce the length of the URL to 1338 characters, IE open the page in five seconds, but if I increase the length of the URL by one character (1339), it foes back to taking three minutes to open. Has anyone else witnessed this behaviour? Does anyone have any suggestions (Other than re-writing the app to not use such a long URL). Thanks! John W. When i search for a web site I usually put the partial or whole web site name in the address bar and hit enter.     - IE6 always rejects a particular cookie regardless of privacy/cookie setting I have an embedded system with a web interface. One of the web pages has a small JavaScript program that, when run on IE6, always displays the message that cookies need to be enabled: if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1) { document.cookie = 'asm_session=0'; if (document.cookie.indexOf('asm_session') == -1) { document.write("Advanced System Management access requires cookies to be enabled."+'<br><br>'); } } This problem only occurs with IE6, not Mozilla. On another web page from this embedded system, a cookie is set the normal way, via the HTTP header. This cookie is also rejected. When I display any page that attempts to set a cookie, IE6 displays the blocked icon and says that cookies on that URL are blocked. However, I have set all privacy and cookie options to their most permissive. I've spent the past hour changing every option I can find that's even remotely related to cookies and privacy, and nothing changes. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?     - IE windows opening differently Until about a week ago my browser windows opened with the usual three-button set in upper right corner (minimize- maximize-close). Downloading from ftp sites Has anyone experienced the following: After setting the security in IE to "do not save encrypted pages to disk" (in the advanced tab of internet options), it becomes impossible to download from ftp sites using IE.     - No access from 1 of 2 station network I cannot access the internet from 1 of my 2 computers. They are on a LAN thru a router. Both use Windows XP Home, w/ IE 6. I've tried hooking up the computer directly to the external modem (not thru the router). No dice. I've shut everything down, unplugged, etc. Nothing. I do not have a firewall activated. I've run Spybot 1.2, and antivirus scan (F-Prot). I suspected a Trojan Horse, so I looked up the items that run at startup, and de-selected all that I believe to be unnecessary. This didn't fix it. I show that I have an IP address. I've pinged (gonig thru the router this time) the Yahoo site, and got a response! So this tells me there is a connection, right?     - posting your email may get you a virus! just a note of caution on entering your real email address when posting a thread, shortly after i made a new topic and used my real email address I recieved 2 emails disguised as official microsoft emails, which claimed to be OS updates and had .exe files attached! i ran a spyware etc check from my pc and they were found to be malicous content. and i deleted them.     - Address Line On my address line the words "Enter Key Word" appears no matter what site I'm at. This occured when a sales person had me enter the words in order to show me his product or real estate web site. In order to get the correct address to appear on the address line I need to refresh which will then show which site I am at.     - Corrupt SHDOCVW.DLL file? Been having problems with IE crashing, with the dreaded exception code oxc0000005. I've seen a few references to the possible culprit being a corrupt SHDOCVW.DLL file. IE version is 6.0.2800.1106. Microsoft database indicates SHDOCVW.DLL file date 8/29/02, file size 1,338,368. I have 3 SHDOCVW.DLL files on the system. One is in \windows\ServicePackFiles\386, dated 8/29/02, file size 1,341,440. The two others are both dated 1/21/04, both file size 1,339,904, located in \windows\system32 and \windows\system32\dllcache. Looks like maybe two of these should be deleted, and the other one might be corrupt? If so, which one should be left in, and how do I replace it with the correct version? Thanks! Could that be a problem? Maybe Spyware? Scanning for viruses (Sasser, Blaster ) comes up clean. Since this is a new install each time, I haven't run Adware or Spyware.     - about:blank Yesterday, I installed adaware and spybot on my computer, but the pages on IE6 still will not display. Also, I can not change my home page; it's grayed out. If you mean changing your page to make it refresh you can use a tag, e.g.:
