    - having IE6 and IE7 on the same machine Nowadays webpages are usually tested on IE 7, IE 6, Firefox 2, and Safari... however, IE 6 and IE 7 usually cannot co-exist on the same machine, and so many developer will need to use a Virtual machine and that takes a lot of memory. Is there a way that the IE6 can be put on the same machine as IE7? Maybe MS can spend a couple days to make a version that can do that? Or any one knows how to do that? Thanks very much! After starting the browser, it takes 30 to 60 seconds for the first page to load, even if the default page is blank. With WLM closed and OE opened, and IE opened, I tried to send a web page by email and WLM opened instead of OE. I closed WLM and checked the settings in IE to make sure that OE was listed as the default mail program, which it was. I checked the settings in both OE and WLM to make sure the former was the default, and the latter was not. I tired again to send the web page via the default email client and again, WLM opened instead of OE. Has anyone experienced this problem? Now, why would this behavior occur when all the settings point to OE as the default mail client? Do I need to go into the folder options, file associations and change the program that sends web pages, or go into the registry somewhere? I know I have to change these options in IE whenever MS performs updates, because the default email program always seems to change to Outlook after MS updates.     - https sites won't load in aol browser, dns not working in IE I have a user who is having problems with her browser, she has AOL 9.0 and Dials up to the Internet Https sites Won't load under AOL browser.. For example clicking settings on the taskbar gives page cannot be displayed. The other strange thing that happens is after aol is minimized, Opening up IE 6 gives an error msg about no internet connectivity and "DNS error" is listed at the bottom... when trying to access any website site. If I type in the actual IP address of a website however it will load in IE 6. I upgraded to IE 7 over a friends broadband connection but experienced the same result. I've ran the latest version of CCleaner, WinsockXPfix.exe, full scan with Spybot S&D 1.52 & updates and it finds nothing.... She is using Symantec Corporate v10 w/ latest definitions I was able to get symantec liveupdate working again by manually putting an entry in the hosts file. So to summarize... DNS appears not to work anywhere across the machine unless you are using the Aol browser... and HTTPS doesnt work within the aol browser. The only thing I stumbled upon close to this error msg was from this site http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/secure.htm which mentions about halfway down: "One more thing to try, that I didn't see mentioned here was to check to see if FIPS compliant encryption algorythms were enabled or not. I have found that enabling this feature will often cause HTTPS sites not to load, and report a DNS error. To check this option go to Control Panel > Administrative tools > Local Security Settings Open up Local Policies > Security Options Verify that "System Cryptogrophy: Use FIPS compliant algorythms for encryption" is set to disabled. You will need to restart the system for this to take effect." However this machine is XP home and local security settings wasn't an option under admin tools... and I searched the reg for this key and system cryptogrophy was already set to disabled..     - Why my .mht files now "not a valid Win32 application" In the course of my work, I save a lot of web pages as archive files = (mht.extension) for future reference. All of a sudden, when I try to = open any one of these .mht files by double-clicking (or right clicking = and using the Open command) I get a msg that says the file you are = trying to open "is not a valid Win32 application" and the file will not = open. Nor will the file open=20 If I right click and select Open With and then Internet Explorer, it = opens okay. But if I select Open With and then Microsoft Word, I get = the "not a valid Win32 application" message. But if I open Microsoft = Word, do a File | Open and navigate to the file, it opens just fine. I have never had this problem before and cannot imagine what is causing = this behavior, particularly since I can open the file, but just the = "hard way", I am running Win XP2, IE6 and Word 2002. The .mht files = were created using this computer. So far, I have not had any type of similar problem with any other file = types. Anybody have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?     - IE Printer settings not saved I have a custom form size entered in the print media types for one of my printers (Eltron 2442 label printer). I need to use this media size repeatedly when printing from a website in IE 6. The problem is that the media size defaults back to "Letter" each time I open IE or go to another website. The custom form size is 8.50in. by 24in. so letter size will waste the form if selected. I am using Win XP Pro and went to the printers and faxes folder to make the change in the preferences for that printer. After restarting IE the change remains as it should in the printers and faxes folder but when you open IE and select File/Print (select the appropriate printer) the media size is right back at "Letter".     - Internet Explorer missing from Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs" For some unknown reason IE6 no longer appears in the list of programs in the Add/Remove Programs selection of the Control Panel.     - Web page load problems Whenever I open a new instance of IE it has problems loading. An IE6 screen opens with the message in the task bar that the website has been found, but the webpage doesn't load. If I right click on the task bar box for that instance of IE6 it releases IE6 from the "holding pattern" it is in. If I don't right click the webpage eventually loads two or three minutes later. I am running Windows 2000 with all the updates applied. I had Norton Antivirus 2000 loaded, but uninstalled it in the process of trying to debug the problem.     - IE6 taking long to open ANY new browser window. I'm having a problem with my IE6. It takes appx 90 sec to load any NEW browser window and I notice that the globe in the upper rt corner of the window doesn't spin as it usually does while loading. I noticed this starting to happen right after I accepted the most recent Winows update for my Win2000 Prof (installed Sat 4/12). The update was Microsoft .netframework 2.0 Svce Pack 1. After I did a restart, the problem with my IE started. Could there be a connection? Also, I downloaded to my desktop IE6 Svce Pack 1 for W2K, but when I tried to run setup for it, I got an error message "access to specified device, path, or file is denied". When I tried to run it directly, I got an error message "the file is not a valid WIN32 application" Does anyone know what this means and why I can't run the setup either way? At my company, I often get calls regarding people who have their signatures
changed by Outlook. We have a rich text format and an HTML pic inserted into
our signatures, but they randomly get changed when sending or replying to
emails. Sometimes the company logo (html) gets moved from under the name to
the side of the name. ANy way to prevent or fix this from re-occurring?
