Is there a setting I can enable which will enable Internet Explorer to =
better handle long strings?
If I click on a link from Google it will include the address I am trying =
reach but with prefixed lines which I believe makes the string so long =
it does not function. IE just says "Done".
Here is an example this is the link I clicked on to after a search on =
Google =
http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;145032728;20864271;b;u=3Dds&sv1=3D46014771&=

/consumer/learn/learn_whatbal.jsp?tcode=3DJA759&WT.mc_id=3DJA759&WT.srch=3D=
1
As soon as IE attempted to link it said Done.

Here is what I lifted out of the above link and pasted in the address =
bar. It went thru and connected. =
www.januvia.com/sitagliptin/januvia/consumer/learn/learn_whatbal.jsp?tcod=
e=3DJA759&WT.mc_id=3DJA759&WT.srch=3D1

I suspect IE is not set to handle long strings. Am I barking at the moon =
or am I partially correct? How do I get this to work other than cutting =
and pasting?
This is a consistent problem with any long string address which was =
developed by transferring from one site to another.

The problem is the "click-through" "sponsored" links and the customized
HOSTS file you're running. Edit the URL you cited in Address Bar to
http://www.januvia.com/sitagliptin/januvia/consumer/learn/learn_whatbal.jsp?tcode=JA759&WT.mc_id=JA759&WT.srch=1
and all should be well.

Is there any way I can fix this with a setting in IE to resolve this problem

The behavior's most likely being caused by a setting in an install
anti-spyware application or your own use of a custom HOSTS file, James.

Your 'hosts' file (no extension; not Lmhosts) is located in

The file you need to edit is HOSTS with no extension. To keep it from
blocking a site place a # and a space in front of the 127.0.0.1 at the
beginning of any line referring to that site.

Actually, you can remove the line but then you can't put it back by removing
the '# '.

Open Windows Explorer to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC <=this folder |
Right-click on the file named HOSTS | Rename it to HOSTS.OLD | OK your way
out | See if the unwanted behavior persists.

To undo the above, simply rename HOSTS.OLD to HOSTS (no extension).

Is there a setting I can enable which will enable Internet Explorer to =
better handle long strings?
If I click on a link from Google it will include the address I am =
trying reach but with prefixed lines which I believe makes the string so =
long it does not function. IE just says "Done".
Here is an example this is the link I clicked on to after a search on =

As soon as IE attempted to link it said Done.

I suspect IE is not set to handle long strings. Am I barking at the =

cutting and pasting?
This is a consistent problem with any long string address which was =
