Blank Script Errors ... Please help
I'm having issues with Script errors. I tried deleting the account and files
and made sure that Documents and Settings didn't have that user anymore.
However, when I created a new account, the errors didn't disappear.
When I tried to set a password and opened Users from Control Panel, even
that User window showed script errors.
When the window opens so I can check the script error, everything is blank,
Line, Error, etc.
I noticed this when I was browsing Overstock.com. When I click on Search(red
button), the yellow triangle appears in the bottom left. And when I click on
the triangle, the window opens up and there is nothing listed in the window.
I might have had this problem before Overstock.com, however that's when I
noticed it.
I have Windows XP SP3, IE7, All updates.
I have reset the IE7 settings in Internet Options, I've deleted all temp
files.
None has helped.
Hope someone sheds a light on this.

Troubleshoot Stalled Web Page
When I go to the following page...

the page opens and displays and then IE stalls (hourglass). Can someone help
be troubleshoot this? Perhaps some sort of plug-in is required that I do not

ie 6 freeze when i click a google search result
Hi,
I have a probleme with ie6 on xpsp2, when I search with google (or
yahoo...) and I click on a link ie doesn't respond for a couple of
minutes, If i open task manager I see ie memory occupation growing and
growing 'till 300mb of ram.. then i kill the process...
I tryed cleaning the pc with ccleaner, then spybot and.... any help?

IE6 popup only with address bar or favourites
My uncle brought his dell laptop to me with this problem
OS Win xp home. IE6
if I try to open a site with the address typed inm to the address bar, or
from the favourites drop down menu, a blank 'popup' window opens, taking a
long time and taking 99% recources. It takes ages to close and if i stop
the process in task manager another windo appears. It wont let me download
from sites like lavasoft. I downloaded hitmanpro on another computer and
ran that and this found lots of trojan, spyware etc but after running it the
same thing happened, but a little faster this time.
Any other ideas

When I open my ie7 and my home page appears I get a popup saying,

UNABLE TO SELECT HOME PAGE
Using IE 6 under Win XP Pro (SP3), something has taken over my home page
rights under Tools>Options>Internet, preventing me from selecting my own home
page and redirecting me by inserting the following into the selection window:

No matter how I change the home page box, it ends up with this phrase
inserted and I end up at MSN.COM. How can I prevent this and eliminate the
source of it?

I am Forced to restart DNS & DHCP in order to use my internet
I am being forced to restart my DNS and DHCP services before accessing
Internet Explorer 6.0, each time I use IE. Sometimes I need to re-start them
5-10 minutes after opening IE. I am running XP with SP3. This started after
a crash and re-install of SP2.I recently tried "net start dhcp" and "ipconfig
/registerdns" from the start & run command. I am not sure if this will work

is it possible to search for a specific thing from web history?
I have google toolbar installed so that my history pages are saved perhaps on
google server. I sell some items on internet and then print shipping label of
fedex so that I can ship the item free by fedex. fedex label of course has a
bar code too. Is it possible from searching the history that I can know
whether I printed shipping label of that specific item. As the buyer says he
didn't get the item and my record on hard copy ( a real copy of paper pages)

javascript error in IE6

I'm getting the above error message when attempting to print from Google
maps (or from Yahoo maps, for that matter). I'm on WinXP SP3 and using
IE6, and javascripting is turned on. Same problem with Netscape 7.2
(scripting also enabled) and Opera 9.x. (ditto) Seems to be a system
problem but I can't imagine what.
I should mention that this is my wife's laptop. On my desktop, which
also has IE6 and Netscape 7.2 (set to the same settings as far as I can
see), everything works fine even without popup blockers disabled. We are
both connected to the internet thru DSL via our router.
Any help much appreciated.

How to beat the network firewall
Hello group
I am using IE6 browser.
I just found out that one favorite file source (rapidshare.com) was
banned from my network. I tried using the proxy servers which was
asuccessful turnaround with firewall protection and my colleagues can
access the facebook, friendster,etc, which they can't by direct
connection the browser.
However whenever I tried rapidshare (yes the webpage can come out
but) I can't download the selected file as either the page just
refreshes or nust remain static.
Is there an effective turnaround for this?

I regularly work in Korea and when I open IE6, many times, it opens up in
the Korean equivalent. Is there any way to force IE to open up in the

Spacing - eBay
I have been trying to list an item for sale in eBay. I have done this
several times but now, in their box where I type in the description of my
item, I get double spacing and not the usual single spacing. I have done the
e mail and live chat thing with eBay and their answer is that this might be a
JavaScript issue and that I should change my browser to FireFox.
I think this is ridiculous. I know this is an eBay issue, but any help?

I`m using IE6 over SSL on XP and ocassionaly receiving "Internal Server Error"
The version of my IE 6 is 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr...
Also it says "Updated Versions: SP2" in the help->about screen which
probably means that I have SP2 for IE 6 installed.
I searched for messages and posts in relation to this issue but I found so
far only those related to KB831167 fix which was a part of SP1 for IE6 and
which I probably have.
Wondering if there were any other updates in relation to this issue. Same
doesnt happen on IE7 or FireFox but I have to use IE6.

localhost:8080 does not display
Hello Group,
I installed my tomcat apacke web server on windows xp professional.
When I type
localhost:8080 in my Firefox browser on the same machine I am able to
see the default
tomcat page, which certiies that my tomcat is working fine and port
8080 is working for web server.
However, if I type the same on same machine
localhost:8080
it first gave me server can not be contacted and when I removed
my setting for
localhost\\8080, it now gives
404 error, <description: The requested resource is not available>
Can someone tell me settings which I need to make or IE is not the
trusted browser for tomcat server? I am perplexed.

HTML Editor only lists "Notepad"
When I log on as a regular user, with IE 6 or IE 7, when I look at "HTML
Editor" in "Internet Options," only "Notepad" is listed. When I log in as a
user with Administrator rights Excel, Word, Publisher and Wordpad are also
listed.
I would like these options listed for all users and not just Administrators.

How to lock scrollbar appearance?
Dear experts,
I need to specify a high contrast style of vertical and horizontal
scrollbars in IE windows,
or, at least, lock the style of the scrollbars so that the web sites could
not
override it.
This is needed for acessibility. Some sites have very strange color
of the scrollbars, such as light gray on white, or light blue on light gray.
Other colors are generally ok, so I don't want to change all colors - just
the scrollbars for now.
Any ideas?

My isp is upgrading its software;could that be the reason I cannot download

still the same issue.
The TAB function works fine except for when I want to use the tab button to
move the mouse cursor down to a "password" box to type in a password. The
tab button will then make the cursor to skip the password box and highlight
the "submit" or "enter" button. This only happens when I want to type in a
password box.
No one can seem to figure out why this is going on...but someone suggested I
try to repair my IE browser.
Ok, while I tried to do that, I got the following message:
"Internet Explorer 6 could not be repaired.
Please run setup again to reinstall all components."
Now when I click details to see the rest of the message, I received the
following:
" Internet Explorer 6 could not be repaird due to the following errors:
Version 5.50.4134.100 of MSHTMLED.DLL exists, but the version needs to be
greater than 6.0.2800.1100"
Does anyone know what that means and how do I fix it?
I did do some research and tried a fix I saw that said that file may be
corrupted and called for me to copy and paste the file anew, but I still
have a problem.

Favorite Highlight Color
When the Favorites menu is being displayed (after clicking Favorites in the
menu bar) I am able to click on a favorite. As soon as the webpage loads,
the selected Favorite turns white/opaque so I cannot see which favorite I
have selected. I am using IE 6.

Difficult effect to describe, but I'll try.
The problem is noticed on pages that are generally laid out in two columns.
Column 2 "slides" down the page so that its top is adjacent to the bottom of
column 1, with white or gray background color replacing the space previously

size can fix it, but not always. Changing Display Properties Screen
Resolution had no effect. IE6 | Tools | Options | Delete Files and Clear
History sometimes clear things up, but not always. (Yes, I want to use the
Largest text size.)

Since WinXP SP3 update, IE6 crashes shortly after I navigate to some
websites.

I hope this is right group...I can't find an IE7 group
IE7 has become pitifully slow.
A friend suggest Safari.
Safari is lightning fast.
I'm used to IE7 and would like to return to it if I could get it's speed up.

Favourites are not in alphabetic order with "Add to favourites"
This is a different problem from the simple question how to show favourites
alphabetically for looking them up.
in my PC folders and links are nicely ordered when I use the menu "organize
favourites" or just look up an existing link.
But for some reason (I guess I once backed up my favourites by simply
copying the folder and then copied this folder back) my favourites do not
show in alphabetical when I want to add a new link. This means it is hard to
find the right folder where to save the new link. There does not seem to be
any way to change this.
I tried to use the "export favourites" function, then erased all sub folders
in the "fabourites" folder and re-imported the exported favourites from the
created file "bookmark.html, hoping that they would get sorted during the
importation, but they appear again in the same disorder as before.
How can I order my favourites again so that they show in the alphabetic

Unable to post forum questions/replies after update
I ran WinXP SP3 upgrade, which downgraded IE from 7 to 6, and now I am unable
to post forum questions/replies. I am posting this question from a different
computer to get it to work.
When I click on new question or reply to an existing one, it just re-loads
the page and never pops up the dialog I am using right now to post this
question.
Ideas? What control or add-in is used to enable the posting of questions

IE6 creates secret folder to store temp file?
My friend complains that she received a doc file via gmail, edited it, saved
it, and then could not find the file again.
To figure this out, I send myself a .doc file to my gmail account. I log in
gmail using IE6, open the mail, click download (attachment), then click open
(I did not explicitly save the file).
Word opens the file, I used save as... to figure out where the file is and
foud it in

Strangely, when I use file explorer outside of word I found that Temporary
internet files is the bottomost level I can get to. There is no Content.IE5
folder. Also, using the same "save as..." dialog, if I navigate up to
Temporary internet files, I cannot go back down to content.IE5 (no such
folder) either.
I found the files by searching for all .doc files on disk C and found a
shortcut pointing to that file in the secret folder.
Still, I would like to know what else I have to do to be able to see the

IE6/7 SSL Problem
Hi, We have two Win2003 server with IE7 on. We recently installed an old
app which has broken SSL. One machine Ciper is shown as 0 the other shows as
128Bit but neither are working. Both machines are unable to access SSL sites
- and the vendor has long since gone bust but its and essential account app.
I have reinstalled IE and down graded to 6 on both but hasn;t resolved the
issue. I have used WinStaLE to try and stop what it changing but no luck.

Yes, I have Opera and Firefox on my computer and IE is set to check to see if
it is default....but when I click on a link in an e-mail or web
site...Firefox opens up instead.

IE6 on W2K on site msdn.microsoft.com
Hello.
I have IE 6.0.2800.1106 (spanish) running on W2KSP4 5.00.2195 (spanish) and
when I go to the msdn.microsoft.com site, I get always errors and the
navigation from the left side bar is impossible.
I tested the page on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista and it works, then I
assume the problem is in the computer with W2K, but I don't have any idea
where is the problem.
Could anyone help me?

IE6 errors

IE 6 on XPsp2 Pro machine is crashing in the middle of a web page with
following errors:

I do not have viruses or spyware or any otehr errors but I am afraid

how to setup a policy to prevent admin users from changing IE
In WIn XP
i have a user - my son, who is an admin because he needs thea ability
to download.
i want to prevent him from changing IE settings. Mainly he i am trying
to prevent him from accessing web sites - but he keeps removing them.
Is there a different user group to give him or how can i accomplish
this?

Nowadays with XP som pages hides and are found klicking in task.mgr. Can it

timed out downloads
HI I;'m trying to download large movie files from ninjavideo.net, but
more often than not i get a timed out message,. Is there any way of
finding an event log or something similar which will point me in the
direction of why this is happening?

Help! IE won't work with new NIC
Hi all,
I have an IE6 problem with a work-provided laptop (which means I have
limited ability to mess with it). The laptop is running XP Pro SP2
and has both an internal 802.11b NIC and a Netgear Super-G PCMCIA card
that I generally prefer to use.
So here's the problem: about a week ago, my Netgear card died and had
to be replaced. I replaced it with a new Netgear card, but IE refuses
to work with the new card *unless* the business VPN is active (which
routes all traffic through my office network and is overkill when I'm
at home and just want to look at something). All my other network
apps work normally (Outlook email, ping, nslookup, ftp) with or
without the VPN active. IE (and everything else) works fine with the
slow internal NIC regardless of the VPN being active.
It seems like IE is somehow locked into using the VPN when using the
Netgear connection, but I cannot find any IE settings that are
different between using the Netgear card and using the internal NIC.
More to the point, IE *used* to work with the old Netgear card and all
I did was replace it with a different one.
I have googled for similar problems and tried all the suggested
remedies: checking proxy settings, flushing DNS, checking host files,
etc. with no luck. Is there some setting hidden in the registry that
might tie IE to a particular device? I am totally perplexed by this
problem.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

ie6 and sp3 mystery
After I installed SP3 my shortcut for IE6 vanished as did iexplore.exe
from c:\program files\internet explorer.
Ixplore turned up in Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and in
Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads...
I created a shortcut to the iexplore in Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
and everything seems to work well.
One curiosity: when I attempted to copy iexplore.exe to program
files\internet explorer, the message came up that it was already there!
Well, Explorer does not show it to be there. Can't figure that one out.
When I installed SP3 on my other computer (laptop), iexlore.exe remained
in the program files\internet explorer folder.

'Thanks for Choosing IE7" Doesn't Work
Running XP SP3, IE7.0.5730
While attempting to install SP3 MS tech support reset all settings in IE7 to
default. Now when I open IE I get a screen that says Thanks for Choosing
IE7. I have to scroll through 4 selections and then hit the save button but
nothing happens when I do so the same screen appears every time I open IE7.

streaming audio player
When clicking on a link in a page to listen to audio the player popup window
doesnt stay open to be able to start there is no popup blocker enabled
everything is up to date even wmp but none of the page that stream audio
work. if we open thew media player it will stream online radio stations that
are included, but it just looks like some setting is not allowing popup to
stay open. Have changed all the security settings and made the exceptions and
made the allows but i stuck

I have "again" lost trail to a previous message I posted on a newsgroup.
Meaning its not in any current view.
