I updated my IE in Windows XP when the OS advised me. After I surfed the
internet some days later, I found something inconvenient concerning tabbed
windows:
1. When open a new tabbed window, IE7 puts it on the right of the current
tabbed window, but when I read over the pop-uped window and close it, then
IE7 will select the right tabbed window of the closed window, which isn't
related to the content I am reading now at all most times possible. So I have
to click the left tabbed window again to continue reading. This is very
convenient, even rendered me won't use IE7 again sometimes.
2.When I push down SHIFT key and click LEFT mouse button on a hyperlink, IE7
will open a new instance to open the window, but I checked the option:"Always
open new document in tabbed window". I hope the new document really opened in
tabbed window.

Thanks.

The way it picks tabs now is related to the tab position;
so, what you can do is move the launching tab to the end of the list
either before or after launching. Also, the way it is now may be more convenient
if you launch a set of pages in the background, then pick the first launched page
e.g. the last tab and continue by reading each page and closing tabs as you go.

You're using the wrong modifier when you click. Pressing just Shift- while clicking
on a link has always opened a page in a new window in IE.

Depending on whether you want the link launched in a new tab either in the foreground
or the background press Ctrl- or Ctrl+Shift when you click on a link.
BTW that in turn depends on your tab setting for: Always switch to new tabs when they are created.

A1. This is default behavior. See Tools | Internet Options | Advanced |
Browsing | Use most recent order...

A2. A link in an IE window is not a "new document." See

Thanks a lot.
But, the problem is I often find many toptics to read at the same time, so I
feel the way IE7 processes now is not optimal: e.g.,
I read topic A,B,and C, and the tabbed windows place as A1,B1,C1. when I
click one link in topic A, and B, the tabbed window will place as
A1,A2,B1,B2,C1. If I read over A2, and close it ,then IE7 will select B1, but
I want to find new messages in topic A, so I hope IE7 will activate tabbed
window A1 aotomaticlly. Now, I must select A1 manually again to continue
reading which is not very convenient....

Not if you drag A1 to the end of the list.

Which it would do if you did the drag operation.

If you are planning on reusing a page or if you find yourself
reusing a page drag its tab to the end of the list before launching
other links in new tabs from it.
