Can't see all of page content. Looks like a 'snapshot'
I work at a community college and frequently use IE7 to work with our Course
Management System, Angel. When I try to do the settings in the dropbox,
there is no scroll bar on the right so I can scroll down to other portions of
the settings. It almost looks like a snapshot of it. It is really weird. I
have to go into Mozilla to work with the dropboxes, but do the other page
editing in IE7 (because it all looks funky if I work in Mozilla). It is quite
a pain to work in 2 different browsers for up to 8 hours a day. Any
suggestions? Tag: ie7 i cant stay logged into sites Tag: 155954

page contains both secure and nonsecure items When setting location
Howdy All,
I'm fighting with IE on a secure site where I am trying to set the
location of a frame from within javascript using code similar to this.
sHref = "DocumentViewPDF.asp?DocumentType=<%=sDocumentType

objFrameImage = window.top.frames['fraImage'];
objFrameImage.location = sHref;
IE 6 throws up this message that says "This page contains both secure

problem including IE7. Is there a way to fix this?

I have seen a couple of comments about CCleaner causing problems with
cookies.........I had a cookie with that name, but I could not find any

if that is my problem?

ie7 and myfidelity daily
I recently purchased a laptop with vista. It also has ie7. (apparently ie6 is
not compatible with vista).
Also at one point I upgraded to ie7 on an xp pc and problem still occurred.
The problem is the watchlist section of myfidelity daily is blank. It never

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it a missing add-on or plug-in?

nothing works.

IE7 doesn't load in new windows/tabs
Since a recent update which I installed yesterday, I believe, IE7 does not
load anything anymore in new Tabs or new Windows.
The behavior is as follows, e.g.
1) open www.live.com
2) right click on the "images"-links and click "open in new tab" or "open in
new window"
The new tab/window will appear, the URL displayed in address bar the new
tab/window is correct, but the page does not load. If I explicitly confirm
the URL by pressing return in the address bar, the page loads.
If a new window is opened via JavaScript the address bar displays not the
correct URL, but the last URL I typed in. So to actually post in this
newsgroup I had to download a different browser, because the form for new
posts opens in a new window.
My OS is 32bit Vista Home, I already did reset all setting of the internet
explorer in options->advanced, disabled Norton Internet Security and so

IE 7 repeatedly opens new windows
Hi,
On occasion, when I try to close IE, it will repeatedly open new windows to
my home page. The only way to stop it without shutting down is to go into
the Task Manager, and kill ieuser.exe as well as iexplorer.exe. This has
occurred more than once, but I have so far been completely unable to
reproduce it.
The first thing I thought was that I was infected with a virus that my
McAfee Security Center wasn't detecting, but I have already gone to McAfee
support, and it checks out fine - it detected and quarantined a test virus
without a problem. So, the only option I am left with is that the problem
must be with IE. Can anyone help? Thanks.

IE 7 - File Download Security Warning
It seems that any downloads that should normally install and launch in the
browser window no longer functions correctly. I no longer get the 'run'
option, only the 'save' option. This is a problem because I use a program at

meeting room but instead, I have to save the .svt file to my desktop and then
launch it from there.
On another machine running XP SP2 with IE 7, I don't have this issue. I have
compared all my IE 7 internet options security settings and have found them
to be exact. I don't have the pop-up blocker enabled on either machine.
Can someone direct me on where and what might be causing this behavior?

Save htm file - rename later, corrupts display
I did a Google search but couldn't get "right keywords" to find
appropriate answer. If not a quick answer, maybe just a URL/pointer. I run
into this occasionally and curious why it happens / how to correct:
Background - setup:
While online I save a webpage to my Pc as htm, so it saves 2 files
"XYZ.htm" file and a " XYZ_files ".
Later on, (like today) I notice the god-awfully long filename and want to
change it.
Here's the filename:
" HP Pavilion dv2000-dv6000-dv9000 and Compaq Presario v3000-v6000 Series
Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement.htm"
and if I open it first - it looks fine - page is displayed just as it was
when I was at HP website - all margins/page layout etc.
Here's my question:
If I try to rename I get a windows " You might corrupt file.... we
recommend that you open the file and do a " Save As". If I do that - the
layout gets messed up - fonts change etc. SO I figure , OK - there's
SOMETHING it that file when I saved it originally that sees a difference
so let me just go ahead and rename both files. So I rename
HP Pavilion dv2000-dv6000-dv9000 and Compaq Presario v3000-v6000 Series
Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement.htm
to
HP Pavilion dv6000 Series Warranty Enhancement.htm
and rename
HP Pavilion dv2000-dv6000-dv9000 and Compaq Presario v3000-v6000 Series
Notebook PCs - HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement_files
to
HP Pavilion dv6000 Series Warranty Enhancement_files.
I open THAT and - messed up - just as the other is.
I rename back to original and - looks good again.
1. Why does it get messed up ? , and
2. other than revisiting a webpage and saving again with new name, how to
avoid distorting the layout/fonts etc.
3. Or cannot avoid it because "something" is imbedded into file ?
Thanks.
PS: reason for wanting to rename has to do with "browsing that folder".
I find that later on, when I try to download a file and do a " Save As"
and point to that folder, in the folder browser popup window where I'm
choosing to save the file, the spacing between file columns is " as wide
as the widest filename", so if I have a LOT of files in there, AND if the
spacing between each column is a wide as the 'FILENAME ABOVE', then I
might have to scroll a long time to the right to find something that I
want to overwrite or to see if a name is in use. ( That's how I just
noticed that "something in the " My Documents" folder has a very long
filename". ) Tag: ie7 i cant stay logged into sites Tag: 155875

Where it IE 7 downloading to?
Hello
I asekd this question a few weeks ago but didn't get to the bottom of it
______________________________________
I just downloaded an MP3 podcast with IE 7 and now can't find it on my
computer
Normally, I use a Stardownloader and have full control but it isn't
installed on this computer
Where on Earth would IE7 put it?
_____________________________________
Poeple asked me where I saved it to but that is the problem.
I click on an icon and in the bottom left hand corner of IE 7, I can see
that the mp3 is downloading.
There is also a lot of incoming activity detected by my firewall.
But no window comes up asking me where to put it and after all this
finishes, I can't find the mp3 anywhere on my Hard Drives
Thanks in advance

ActiveX not getting detecting in IE7 in Vista
Hi,
I'm facing this peculiar problem of ActiveX Control not getting detected in
IE7 in Vista...We have our own ActiveX control(written by us) and should be
detected and loaded while launching an application in IE. At this point, The
browser is not loading the activex correctly and so not launching the
required application. Where as this is not the case in XP systems.. It is
failing only on Vista and that too on some particular Vista machines.
However on upgrading it to SP1 this problem is getting fixed. I guess there
will be some setting on the Vista or on IE which is avoiding this and not
detecting the ActiveX since this is not the case with all the machines.
I'm using Vista ultimate and did not upgraded it to SP1
It'll be really helpful if some one suggests a solution for this?
Thanks,

Multiple browser instances popping up with Google Earth
Using Google Earth, I browsed to Moscow Russia. There, you will see a
YouTube placemark for Moscow Churches. The idea is that YouTube
video's can be played from the clicked location to see video of/around
that area of Google Earth.
After clicking on the YouTube icon, I get all these attempts to
download something. But IE 7 says it cannot download "." unspecified
error.
Anyway, there seems to be a JavaScript error because I see, real
briefly, a JavaScript like URL that tries to fire Console.Firebug.
It's too quick because what appears is the download error.
At any rate, eventually I get a browser crash. These instances just
keep spawning and I guess IE7 cant handle it.
What I am asking is for someone to try it out with the following specs
which mimic my own or come close to it.
- Google Earth (latest version as of 6/26/2008)
- IE version 7
- Vista SP 1
Now, for the IE7, I disabled all my addons and nothing changed.
I suppose it can be some exploit attempt or perhaps a virus but I
really think it's something that wasn't handled. Nonetheless, this
wont be the first time multiple instances of IE7 spawned so it could
well be a virus or bad add-on.
I just need to confirm if this happens to anyone else.
In summary, go to Moscow, Russia through Google Earth and try to view
the Moscow Russia, Churches YouTube. There's not may youtube icons so
it should be rather easy to find.
Thanks for any assistance

InstantBuzz, the Home Pages, and ScreenSaver/LogOff
I installed InstantBuzz today, and it ran ok for a while (in IE - it ran fine
all day in Firefox), but then my IE locked up, and after re-starting my
computer to give improvement a chance, I removed InstantBuzz. But now - I
don't know whether this is related at all to InstantBuzz - the Home Page
functions like Remove xyz home page don't work. I have tried several times
removing one of my Home Pages (one of the tabs), and it won't go away. I even
re-started the computer after telling it to get lost, and no change: that
home page (one of the tabs) is still there.
Also, why is ScreenSaver not equipped with a "Log Off when ScreenSaver is
invoked" option any more? For I while, I noticed that it had started working
that way, but now it does not work that way, anymore. (I mean, it just did
it, no choice. It was not an optional "checkmark", which would be preferred,
as it would leave it up to the user.
If I walk away from my computer with the screen lit (while I am still near
the computer), I want ScreenSaver to blank it out on my time setting; but if
I have to leave home and computer behind, I want to be Logged Off as well as
screen saved. As it stands now, if I log off, screen saver won't kick in (as
far as I last saw). So to Log Off, I have to leave my screen vulnerable to
burn in. That is no good. I need to be able to ScreenSave with or without
Log Off, and I need to be able to Log Off with screen save.
Thanks. (Want more good suggestions? Hire me. I think of them all the
time.)
To the first point about Home Page functions, I suppose I can do a fresh
install of IE, but, of course, I shouldn't have to. How did that one Home
page get locked in to my Home Page Tab Set so that it won't go away?
Thanks.

The icons used for internet addresses in the Links Toolbar and the Favorites

Sometimes they go away, and then sometimes they come back. Sometimes a few

Microsoft should change it so these icons are lasting, and do not go away.

with this message. "A system call that should never fail has failed." What
could cause this problem? I only have the problem on the Download.com Web
Site and if the file is larger than 15.8-megs. The file that I am trying to
download is about 18.27-megs. When I see it reach 15.9-megs it then stops and
gives me that message that I have written here. What could cause this to
happen? I am running on Windows XP - the 32-bit version. I have all of the
latest updates and have also re-installed my IE7 in hopes of correcting this
problem. But nothing seems to be working. Tag: ie7 i cant stay logged into sites Tag: 155805
No "Open In New Tab" On Right-Click
Hi, I have recently reinstalled Windows XP Professional and done all the
updates including IE7. However, whereas before I could right-click and get an
option in the context menu to open in a new tab, it is not now available only
"Open in new window". Any ideas?
Cheers

Downloading trial from Adobe
Hi
I'm trying to download the free trial of Adobe 9 Pro. By the time I finally
reached the page that asked me to select the language version and 'click' to
start download, all I get is a buzzer sound from the computer, the status bar
at the bottom of the screen completed a green line a couple of times and then
nothing.
What is going wrong?

auto refresh on tabs
I have 4 tabs that are open to www.mapquest.com. They each contain directions
to a different location. The icon on 3 of the 4 tabs is continually spinning.
I assume this means the tabs are continually refreshing. I'm not sure why 3
of 4 tabs are refreshing and the 4th is not. The directions I was requesting
on these tabs have been stable for a long time. I am not ready to close the
tabs, but I also don't want the tabs to continually refresh after I have the
directions I want. How do I turn this off? Thanks. Tag: ie7 i cant stay logged into sites Tag: 155769

View HTML Source Code in IE7
Questions For XP Prof Sp2 with IE7:
1. In IE7-Tools-Internet Options-Fonts-Language Script I enter "Cyrillik
Script"; System takes it and then overrides it back to "Latin Base". Why?
What is wrong? How make Cyrillik stay?
2. I specified in windows XP SP2 default text editor as WordPad instead of
NotePad. It works OK in all text files. But when I select in IE7 View-Source
the code opens again in NotePad, not in WordPad. So I have to specify text
editor in IE7. How to do it?
Please Help

I have a vague problem on my home PC. IE always throws an error saying "Your
computer is not connected" and additional error messages.
When I run the Network diagnostics tool, it says that everything is
perfectly in order. Also all my other applications like GTalk, MSN Messenger
& Yahoo Messenger does not have any problems.
I did Uninstall/reinstall of IE7 its the same problem. I am at my wits end
what exactly is the problem. Tag: ie7 i cant stay logged into sites Tag: 155757
