There is no google toolbar installed, and google is not the default search
provider, nor is listed on my search provider list. When keying in a search
from the address bar the searh is provided by Google images search. Cannot
figure out how to stop this. Would like to use any other search provider but
cannot. Any search provider listed in the search bar as default will not over
ride the Google image search. Using winvista home premium service pack1 if
that makes any difference.

Your security software may be preventing you from changing your default
search provider. (Purveyors of adware like to change your search
provider.) It may be as easy as discovering which setting is preventing
the change and allowing the change to proceed.

Hi Stumped,

Uninstalling toolbars may not clean up what they leave behind.

Try this registry fix

http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=SearchHookFixDownload.asp

or to set up Address Bar Shortcuts

http://www.iecustomizer.com/?url=IESearchURLs_Download.asp

(has an option to repair the IE SeachHook.)

Regards.
