Excel opening in IE
Running Excel 2002, IE 6 on Windows XP, accessing Sharepoint WSS 2.0.
I have a few different workstations that were all created from the same
image that have the same versions of Excel, IE and Windows. I have an Excel
document stored in Sharepoint (WSS 2.0). When I click on the document to
view it, sometimes the document opens within IE and sometimes it opens in
Excel outside of IE. On one workstation the first time you open the document
it opens in Excel outside of the browser and everytime after that (until the
browser is closed and reopened) the document is opened within IE.
We would like the documents to always open within IE, which happens on a
couple workstations but not on others. I haven't been able to figure out
what is configured differently between the computers or what would be
different between opening a document the first time and second time. I have
looked at Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types -> XLS ->
Advanced and made sure the "Browse in Same Window" is checked.
Anyone have any ideas why Excel isn't always opening within IE? Everything
I have found in searching the internet points to the "Browse in Same Window"
checkbox and I've checked and unchecked it several times but it doesn't seem
to make any difference.
Thanks in advance

URL Address Bar in IE7?
On my laptop, when I enter a URL in the site address bar and hit
enter, it does not take me to the entered site, but does a search
instead. I know there is a way to change this behavior to have the
bar send you to the URL site instead and I thought I had a note on how
to, but can seem to find it.
Can someone advise me on how to make this change in behavior?
Thanks

IE6 or IE7 and WMP
I have been troubleshooting this issue for weeks now with no progress. When
a user navs to a website with a WMP video, he clicks the video link and get
the following message: "WMP was unable to locate this video file. Please
connect to the internet and try again." It's WiFi 802.11G connected and this
issue only happens on his system. I can hit the same site and view the video
with no problems.
I have updated and/or patched IE, Windows Media Player, XP, etc. No luck. I
have turned off UDP streaming. No luck.
Any ideas? I will also post in the WMP forum. Tag: Using office live Tag: 150819
IE7 wont work!!
Wrote a few days ago about friend's troubled computer (no updates/anti-virus
for years). Attempted to clean and fix with updates, LiveOneCare, and
Spybot....got pretty close, except IE7 would not work....just hung with
circle spinning( never even timed out). Went back to IE6, no problems. Re
installed IE7 and same problem. Could run "quick scan "from LiveOneCare, but
full scans would get to about 80% and freeze (on IE...hmmm). Had Firefox, so
I know I was connected and able to access internet. Several posts suggested
starting from scratch, which I did last night. Now, I am running XPSP3 (with
IE7 update installed after SP3) after formatting HD and fresh Windows
install, and still having same problem with IE7!!!
When I try to open IE7 without addons, just freezes, and I have to use task
manager to close it. I have tried resetting IE settings from Advanced tab of
Internet Options with no luck......please, any ideas? Driving me crazy!!!

Printing - Vista Business SP1 / IE7
I am running vista Business and am unable to print from any web page using
IE7. The problem does not exist in Firefox or with any other application -
Office 2007, etc.
I am told that turning off 'protected mode' would solve the problem.
Is there any fix that is a little less dangerous?

I have installed the above twice now and the 'run once' page doesn't work - I
go through the 'choose your settings' and nothing happens. The page says done
but with the '!' mark for errors on page. Any suggestions as to why and what
I can do to fix this...?

Problem viewing Photos
Hi there.
I have IE7 and use XP.
Although 90% of websites I view are fine, it seems certain sites (in
particular, online shops) do not load correctly.
For instance, I can't view photos on webpages such as these:

IE7 How to view scripted saved webpages with Internet security Hig
With IE6, I could view scripted saved webpages to My Computer and view them
no problem even with the Internet Security level set as high.
I have just installed IE7 and it doesn't work as before. IE7 now seems to
treat saved webpages as the same security zone as intenet pages viewed on the
web!
I want to keep my Intenet Security level high for general browsing but I
want to be able to read my saved emails which I need Javascript enabled to
do. And I don't now want to have to change the Internet Security level every
time I want to view a saved webpage.
It worked no problem on IE6 but I don't know how to get it to work on IE7.
Can anyone help me with this?
Otherwise I will have to roll back IE7 and stick with IE6.

Problem with AVG Free 8, Vista Home Premium SP1 and IE7
Installed Free AVG 8 here today on two systems - Vista Home Premium SP1 and
XP SP3 with IE7.
On the Vista machine, the installation of AVG 8 broke IE7 in opening a
second window - it just hung until the "not responding" message appeared.
I tried installing AVG without the surfsearch function, and without the
Linkscanner module - still couldn't open a second window in IE.
Uninstalling of AVG 8 cured the problem.
The installation on XP SP3 with IE7 had no effect at all. IE7 behaved
perfectly normally.
Anyone seen this, and is there a fix?

Whenever I open a link that opens another page, that page opens behind the
others. How can I fix this?
I'm using IE7 and Windows XP.

SP3
Do not upgrade SP3 exe at once, will cause problems. Windows update and
select custom. Part of SP3 is already installed on computer. Tag: Using office live Tag: 150651
SP2
SP2 must be upgraded through Windows Update selecting custom first, do not
upgrade to SP2 using the entire package or exe file; yes, will cause
problems. SP2 contains updates already installed on computer. Restart
computer after each update. Eventually, SP2 will show as one update package. Tag: Using office live Tag: 150649
MICROSOFT SOFTWARE AND APPLICATIONS
A purchased computer from the store do not have enough memory to operate
Windows XP Software and Applications. Windows XP memory need to be 1GB or
more to operate IE7 and some other software. Windows XP memory upgrade will
effectively indicate a difference in downloading and running applications
which scan the computer. Internet Explore 7 will function properly without
the proper memory for operating system Windows XP.

IE7 PROBLEMS
While working with different brands of computers, I have discovered not
enough memory to operate Microsoft Applications and Software. Upgrade memory
to 1GB or more for Microsoft Applications and Software to operate normal.
Some other applications work better with the memory upgrade. Most errors
come from lack of memory; however, no error tell you about memory upgrade as
a solution. Tag: Using office live Tag: 150646

Two suggestion about IE7
I updated my IE in Windows XP when the OS advised me. After I surfed the
internet some days later, I found something inconvenient concerning tabbed
windows:
1. When open a new tabbed window, IE7 puts it on the right of the current
tabbed window, but when I read over the pop-uped window and close it, then
IE7 will select the right tabbed window of the closed window, which isn't
related to the content I am reading now at all most times possible. So I have
to click the left tabbed window again to continue reading. This is very
convenient, even rendered me won't use IE7 again sometimes.
2.When I push down SHIFT key and click LEFT mouse button on a hyperlink, IE7
will open a new instance to open the window, but I checked the option:"Always
open new document in tabbed window". I hope the new document really opened in
tabbed window.
Thanks.

redirecting ie7 does not work
Hello,
I=B4am using a ISA Server as a Webproxy. All my internal Clients use
this Server as their Webproxy. I=B4ve created a rule that blocks a
specific URL: https://mail.corporate.com and redirects the user to
http://mail.corporate.com. (So I want to redirect all my users from
ssl to normal http).
This ISA rule works finde when my client are using ie6 or firefox. But
when using ie7 the redirection does not work. The ie7 just says, that
it was not able to open https://mail.corporate.com
What should I change in ie7 to get this rule working correctly?

MSN Explorer
I like Microsoft but have a bit of criticism on Internet Explorer.
MSN Explorer 7.02 (which is the last free version of MSN Explorer) loads
pages faster than Internet Explorer, on which is based. However it has some
drawbacks, which can be easily solved:
*It should be free again.
*It should be included in future Windows OS releases as the default browser.
*It should become a standalone browser (now it runs 'over' IE), while
continuing to be based on it.
*A pop-up blocker should be added.
*A phishing filter should be added.
*Tabbed browsing should be included.
*Should have a function to switch between Standard and Advanced mode. The
Standard mode will be default mode, it won't require users to sign in with
their Hotmail account, but it will be available for use by anyone. Also the
E-mail links for Hotmail shouldn't be available. The Advanced mode should
include Hotmail integration the same way MSN Explorer includes it now. The
switch between Standard and Advanced modes should be easy to do from the
browser menu.
*Skins should be introduced.
I think IE, the 'veteran' browser should retire for good, and MSN Explorer
(this time for free and by default) should replace it. It even may not be
called MSN Explorer, but Windows Live Explorer, or something like that,
because many MSN services now are branded as Windows Live. Tag: Using office live Tag: 150634
Deploy IE7 Silently With WSUS
I'm sure this question must have been answered already but I can't find it!
I'm desperately trying to get IE7 to deploy using WSUS3. The update has been
approved for certain workstations but the installation only occurs when a
user with local administrator rights logs in. The status of the update on
each client is showing as 'Downloaded'.
None our users are local admins so this is a real problem. Is there any way
to have IE7 install via WSUS siliently without an admin logging in? Tag: Using office live Tag: 150629
Cannot Access Internet via Proxy Server
Hi all
Can anyone give me a fault finding procedure to establish why Internet
Explorer won't work please?
Never had problems with this before, simply put the ip address of the proxy
server and the port number into the Lan Settings under the Connections tab
and Bob's your uncle - but not in this case!
Client is Dell Latitude 830 laptop running XP Pro
Server is Win2003 Server running ISA server as Proxy
30+ users connected in the same way and no issues
Tried re-inputting all details/logging on as domain admin - still no joy!
The user can access the ISA server as this doubles as Exchange box.
Anyone any idea where this may be blocked/over-ridden?
TIA

can only find downloads that tell me not to download if im only downloading
to one computer....what in earth am i supposed to do, it keeps going around
in circles? I currently run windows vista and obviously explorer 7. SP1 is
not available in my updates nor has it been in my auto updates. Tag: Using office live Tag: 150625
Vista printing - small print
Printed web pages so small hard to read. Can increase size but lose portion

Embedded Word document not visible in print in IE7
Hi,
When i embedd a word document into a htm display and try to take a print
from IE7, embedded word document is not included in the print preview and
also in the physical print.
it happens for both word 2003 and 2007.
(but normal text documents are included in the print and they print fine).
note: I could embedd word 2007 document as I have added the registry as per
this document to get it embedded and opened in its place.

Security Settings
I'm using IE7 .
I am the Comp Administrator and signed in as such.
I'm trying to go to
http://www.transaction-id.com/thankyou/Software/thankyou.asp?comp=multi&proid=earth
I get the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage message and the
"Restricted Sites" tab appears at the foot of the screen.
If I pass the cursor over the "restricted Sites"tab I see "Double click to
change security settings" but I can't access it.
If I go to "Internet Options" I get the message "This operation has been
cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact
your system administrator."
Any ideas what to do?

losing Favorites folder IE7 MSN 9.5
If I use "organize favorites" and add a folder, it stays on during that
session. However, on the next session or maybe 2 or 3 sessions after, the
new folder in Favorites has mysteriously disappeared. I have lost some
serious links because of this. Does anyone here know what could be causing
this?
