    - Explorer 7 Home Page Problem I have recently been having problems with IE 7 and the home page function. I have been trying to reset my homepage but IE does not allow me to do so. I can change the page address in Internet Options, apply the changes and close Internet Options but when I open it again, whether through Explorer or through Properties on the Explorer shortcut, the original homepage is listed. I have made sure that my computer is up to date using the update website but it has not solved my problem.     - Cannot view Pictures posted to web by other users Hi all, I'm having a problem viewing pictures that have been posted onto a Forum that I am a member of, and this has only started recently as I could view the pictures last week. All i get on the relevant pages, is a blank area with the words "Click to Enlarge" at the bottom. Is this a Cookie handling problem? Or Firewall? My OS is XP Pro, and I have Zonealarm Security suite Installed, (Which I had to Re-install recently due to a bug or Foible that caused it to run erratic, but it works now) Cannot think of what I may have done to change any settings that may affect the viewing of these pictures. All other members of the Forum can see them, but not me, and if the pictures are sent to me direct by way of a link, then I can see them no problem.     - Internet Explorer Slow IE v7 running on Vista, browser set to load with a blank page. in the last couple of days IE now loads up very slow and typing in the google search is also slow. normal load takes 45 seconds. load without add-ins takes 30 seconds. and if I "Run as Adminstrator" then it takes 3 seconds. have run antivirus & spyware checks and all is okay. Basicly, after installing IE7 on aprox 250 computers all the laptop users complain the Windows logon takes ages (i.e. 10 minutes) when they work offline. When they're reconnected to the network everything works flawless. Latest updates do not seem to help. The logon screen is stuck at: Running startup scripts...     - registry setting to change IE 7 cache size? Hi there, Is there a way in the registry (or GPO, but I haven't seen one) to adjust the size of IE 7's Temporary Internet Files (cache) setting? Since upgrading to IE7, the default cache size for all users on a terminal server has defaulted to 1024mb. I'd like it to be no more than 50mb, as it's eating up way too much disk space.     - Unable to connect via wideband.... Recently have been unable to connect to internet when opening IE7 until I enter a web address or click on a favorite site; then everything works OK. I also get a alert message box that says "unable to find file: ///c:/program%20files/aol%20toolbar/welcome.html and wonder if this could be problem. Have contacted AOL & Cox.net wideband provider support and they have no answer. Have reinstalled IE7 software and did AOL Quick Restore to no avail. AOL says I'm missing a Microsoft Explore file.     - IE& restarts when I click in a search bar My IE restarts everytime I click in a search bar. Doesn't matter what one, The live search at the top, or even if I go to google or anything. The moment I click to type in the search bar, it has a problem and restarts. I tried running the IE without add-ons, but it does the same thing, except just closes and doesn't restart.     - Internet Explorer - Blank Page When I start up my laptop and all components are loaded up, a Blank White Internet Explorer page automatically pops up, regardless of what program or application I'm trying to open. The blank page pops up in front. I then have to bring up the Task Manager (Ctrl, Atl, Delete) and select end task for Blank Page Internet Explorer, to close the page and continue.     - transfer from xp to vista using pc mover A couple of months ago I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1720 with Vista. I used PC mover to transfer all data from my Dell Inspiron 5100 running XP to the 1720. Now I believe I have updates and hotfixes from my 5100 on my 1720. Does anyone know if I can delete them? Or will deleting them cause me more problems than I already have. 1. Cannot download or install most updates, some do get through. 2. Cannot create restore point. 3. Cannot uninstall programs. 4. Cannot install upgrades from a CD. 5. Currently disabled windows firewall, and deleted McAfee. No other firewall as far as I can tell.     - IE Standards Conformance Dear Microsoft people, please, I am begging you, please make the Internet Explorer conform to all the WC3 standards soon. Up to now your browser is still giving me a huge headache every time I develop a new web page. It's very (very!) frustrating that 50% of all development time for an arbitrary html page is lost making this page work on IE after it already works on all the other browsers out there. Just to get the point right: I develop it once and it works on all the browsers just like that, except on the IE. And for the IE I have to practically redevelop it and confuse all my clean code. This has to stop somewhere. I am begging you. Please address this. If you're concerned about backwards compatibility, which you should be, I suggest that you make IE 8 and 9 fully backwards compatible with previous versions by default. However, programmers should get the possibility to set a flag for each HTML page by which IE is switched to something you might call "WC3-Mode". In that mode, IE should behave like Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and all the other standards conformant browsers. I mean, I don't need your competitors to make my point. The point is: Just conform to the standard, PLEASE! I beg you again! Please address this soon. The Internet is full of pages about IE bugs. (Example: http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer.html) Why haven't you been doing much about it in the past? Please do it now! Fix these bugs and inconsistencies with the standard.     - Favorites I'm using Vista Ultimate along with LiveCare for my virus and firewall with IE7. I noticed that there have been some posts concerning the following issue: "The target "" of this Internet Shortcut is not valid. Go to the Internet Shortcut property sheet and make sure the target is correct." What I read in these posts is that the people experiencing this problem were using XP along with Antivir. I assumed that AntiVir was a name for a specific antivirus program.     - Find on this page as default search provider I review articles on websites and quite often I search the page I am currently on for keywords. I would like to set "Find on this page" as my default search provider so I can just use the search field up at the top of IE to look for keywords within the article instead of clicking on the down-arrow and selecting "Find on this page".     - ie 7 version 7.0.5730.13 I'm running winxp sp3 (rc1 I think) I just downloaded this version from the other day as the disc I bought had a problem installing ie7. It removed it just fine then put me back to ie 6. have ie7-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe dl'd. installed just fine all my addon are back, lost no fav. problem is I can use cntrl-q to see thumbs and close tabed windows at thumbnail. I can open as many tabs (have up to 10 before) and use the cntrl-q method of closing. When I get the to the last window and try to close ie 7 I always get a hung app. I have sent a couple of the errors to Microsoft but have never heard anything back. I also have all the updates according to windows update. any ideals? I have cleaned everything that can be cleaned out, hacked reg. for some other non related things.     - Two IE7 Problems...need help please Running IE7 on XP Pro, having two problems: 1) Whenever I click in the address bar and type in an address, IE locks up and shows Not Responding and I have to End Task in Task Manager. 2) Flash programs will not load.     - Images on IE on top of one another hello, I have IE7 on an xps420 that is about 3 months old. The problem I have is that on some websites the images overlap, or words will overlap each other etc. I updated my video card drivers just in case, but no dice! I am running vista home premium. At first I thought it was a problem with vista, but I used another pc with vista about a month ago, and didn't have the same issue! any suggestions! is there a name for this? I was trying to find some info, bc I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to, but didn't know the best keywords to search with!     - font & Text size - IE7 1) There seems to be no way to change text size and have it "stick" so that subsequent page will show the same size text. The default seems to be "medium" with no way change it and make it stay changed. Can this apparent defect in IE7 be repaired? 2) I recently suffered a crash.     - IE7 Returns HTTP 400 errors and "Cannot display webpage" messages New installation of MS WXP Pro with SP2, NIS 2008. The machine connects to the Internet, the IPConfig /All looks right, MS Messenger connects, as does e-mail. Yet IE7 yields an HTTP 400 error or "cannot display the webpage" on every attempt to connect to a web page but the first one. Meaning - if I Reset IE7 settings in Internet Options I can connect to the Microsoft.com home page, but can NOT click on any link from there. I cannot at any time open WindowsUpdate nor MicrosoftUpdate. Other web pages fail too. All MS Updates were installed earlier this month, NIS 2008 appears to be updating fine and has the most current version of its updates - from the best that I can tell. All scans are clean.     - CHM files does not work in IE7 Hi all, We have a problem in our company recently. Our IE has been upgraded to IE7 and help CHM files stop working. CHM help files are located on shared folder and IE is unable to open them from that shared folder but if i copy them to my local pc they are working well. So i am afraid it is some security issue. I found out this should be cased by security update 896358 or security update 890175 as described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892675/ but the workaround described in that page is not working in IE7. I tried to edit registry and added UrlAllowList to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\HHRestrictions ...but with no result. Please help me solve this issue.     - I want to manually enter URL's Here's the problem, when I go to enter in a URL by either copy/paste or type it in, I always supply the http:// and especially https:// and I have noticed that now when I type in the full URL, Internet Explorer 7 also enters in http:// which makes it impossible to get to a website, and it is also the case when I need to get to a https://. I did find a fix for entering a secure site, under Tools/Internet Options/General Tab/Languages/ and selecting the box that says Do not add 'www' to beginning, etc. This did fix it so I can enter in https:// and continue to the specified site, but I still cannot manually enter a regular http://. I rather enjoy having full control, and do NOT like automated features so please tell me how I can force IE 7 to allow me to do something so simple as enter a full URL.     - Favorites do not appear after importing I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with IE7. I erased my favorites somehow, so I tried to import a saved bookmark.html file. The import worked, but I still cannot see my favorites from the Favorite menu.     - Error 400 "Bad Request" I have a Konica copier (Bizhub 350) that gets managed with a web browser. On a fresh XP system I can get to it fine and manage it. But after I get all 97 of my windows updates for XP and IE7 I only get error "400 Bad Request" when I try to manage this copier. I got this funny idea in my head that I would see if Konica knew anything about this since I saw a few postings on various sites about this error, but Konica can't seem to understand why I would be calling them about an error trying to connect to their machine.
