IE 7 using XP Pro
I just installed IE 7 after using IE 6 for years. All black type on all
pages has a green halo around almost every letter. Didn't have the problem
with 6 or with Firefox (alternate browser) or any office programs. What is
causing this--is there a setting I need to change? Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150755

Everytime I try to login to myspace I get a message stating that ie has

ie on this system. Can anyone help?

login to live services
I am not able to access any site starting with login.live.com. From any live
service, I click the sign in link (in Internet Explorer )and it takes me to a
blank white page. When I try to log in in Firefox, it takes me to the sign
in page like I would expect it to. It also works in Firefox using the IE tab
extension, but I am unable to sign into any live service in Internet Explorer.
I have tried disabling the windows live sign-in helper add-on in Internet
Explorer, but that did nothing to fix the problem. Also, I am able to log in
just fine in Internet Explorer on our other computer, just not on this
computer.
I originally emailed windows live support, by the redirected me here. Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150741
IE7 Tabs Not Working
Running IE 7 and XP Pro SP2. The problem just started today. When I hold
down the Ctl key and click on a link, IE use to open up a new tab for the
web page. Now it opens a new tab which says Connecting... and a blank page.
If I just click on the link without holding down the Ctl key it goes to the

ideas as to what the problem is? Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150721

Problem with AVG Free 8, Vista Home Premium SP1 and IE7
Installed Free AVG 8 here today on two systems - Vista Home Premium SP1 and
XP SP3 with IE7.
On the Vista machine, the installation of AVG 8 broke IE7 in opening a
second window - it just hung until the "not responding" message appeared.
I tried installing AVG without the surfsearch function, and without the
Linkscanner module - still couldn't open a second window in IE.
Uninstalling of AVG 8 cured the problem.
The installation on XP SP3 with IE7 had no effect at all. IE7 behaved
perfectly normally.
Anyone seen this, and is there a fix?

that Avast! did not.....) Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150677

Two suggestion about IE7
I updated my IE in Windows XP when the OS advised me. After I surfed the
internet some days later, I found something inconvenient concerning tabbed
windows:
1. When open a new tabbed window, IE7 puts it on the right of the current
tabbed window, but when I read over the pop-uped window and close it, then
IE7 will select the right tabbed window of the closed window, which isn't
related to the content I am reading now at all most times possible. So I have
to click the left tabbed window again to continue reading. This is very
convenient, even rendered me won't use IE7 again sometimes.
2.When I push down SHIFT key and click LEFT mouse button on a hyperlink, IE7
will open a new instance to open the window, but I checked the option:"Always
open new document in tabbed window". I hope the new document really opened in
tabbed window.
Thanks.

redirecting ie7 does not work
Hello,

this Server as their Webproxy. I=B4ve created a rule that blocks a

This ISA rule works finde when my client are using ie6 or firefox. But
when using ie7 the redirection does not work. The ie7 just says, that
it was not able to open https://mail.corporate.com
What should I change in ie7 to get this rule working correctly?

MSN Explorer
I like Microsoft but have a bit of criticism on Internet Explorer.
MSN Explorer 7.02 (which is the last free version of MSN Explorer) loads
pages faster than Internet Explorer, on which is based. However it has some
drawbacks, which can be easily solved:
*It should be free again.
*It should be included in future Windows OS releases as the default browser.
*It should become a standalone browser (now it runs 'over' IE), while
continuing to be based on it.
*A pop-up blocker should be added.
*A phishing filter should be added.
*Tabbed browsing should be included.
*Should have a function to switch between Standard and Advanced mode. The
Standard mode will be default mode, it won't require users to sign in with
their Hotmail account, but it will be available for use by anyone. Also the
E-mail links for Hotmail shouldn't be available. The Advanced mode should
include Hotmail integration the same way MSN Explorer includes it now. The
switch between Standard and Advanced modes should be easy to do from the
browser menu.
*Skins should be introduced.
I think IE, the 'veteran' browser should retire for good, and MSN Explorer
(this time for free and by default) should replace it. It even may not be
called MSN Explorer, but Windows Live Explorer, or something like that,
because many MSN services now are branded as Windows Live. Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150634

Cannot Access Internet via Proxy Server
Hi all
Can anyone give me a fault finding procedure to establish why Internet
Explorer won't work please?
Never had problems with this before, simply put the ip address of the proxy
server and the port number into the Lan Settings under the Connections tab
and Bob's your uncle - but not in this case!
Client is Dell Latitude 830 laptop running XP Pro
Server is Win2003 Server running ISA server as Proxy
30+ users connected in the same way and no issues
Tried re-inputting all details/logging on as domain admin - still no joy!
The user can access the ISA server as this doubles as Exchange box.
Anyone any idea where this may be blocked/over-ridden?

Resolved Shrink to fit default!
Through hours of scouring posts and finding minimal fixes from MS, I
discovered the Outlook printing "hotfix" adds a reg key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_STF_Scale_Min]
"pst.exe"=dword:00000064
changing the print default to 100%
Since our business uses some apps that use the IE7 browser to print from,
add: iexplore.exe"=dword:00000064 as another value defaults printing to 100%
in this app. Recently another program printing option (for ID cards) was
defaulting to shrink to fit even though it appeared it was using the browser.
After conversation with the vendor found that it was using a Crystal wrapper
(exe) through the browser as the print call. So it too was fixed (set back to
100% as default) once entering it into that reg key. <sigh> SO if this theory
is correct most applications that use in part the browser and call some form
of proprietary executable might just respond to this "fix"
I hope this helps others :) Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150572

I exported the Favorites folder to my newly-installed Vista Home Premium.
Now when I click a particular category, I have to click the category again
to have a drop-down list of the sites. This "drop-down" list stays expanded
until I click the category again.
It is a small point to have to re-click a category to have the drop-down
list disappear - but an irritating one.
Is there a workaround for this?

Problem with Outlook Express Ver 6 since IE 7 installation
For some reason, since installing IE-7 on my PC some e-mails inside OE lock
up when opened (being viewed) (NOTE: this action is not consistant with all
msgs). Usually they have a graphic (picture). What happens is that is I can
not negotiate in or around the msg (can not scroll, right click, pick
anything from the menu bar), all that is available is anything outside that
particular OE window and upon closing (Able to pick the red 'x' in the upper
right corner to close the problem msg). However, even after closing I can
not pick another msg to read. I need to close out of OE all together then
reopen. When reopened, as long as I stay out of the file that is giving me
trouble, I have no problem. Should I try viewing the msg again, the will
freeze OE again. Is there any fix to this problem? Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150559
IE7 Install not trusted
So I decided to upgrade my work comuter from IE6 to IE7. This update was not
in the Windows Update menu anymore so I went to microsoft.com and downloaded
the installer (Yes, I checked to see that it wasn't just hidden.. it is not
in my Windows Update at all). When I go to run it I get this message:
"This publisher has been blocked from running software on your machine."
www.dissonance.us/fusionowners/up/001.jpg
I went into IE6 and removed Microsft from the Untrusted Publishers list as
the link on the bottom of the message suggests. I then restarted the computer
and tried again. Same message. So I then installed the cert by clicking the
link that says "Microsoft Corporation." Restarted computer and same message.
When I installed the cert, I let it do this automatically. After that didn't
work I manually installed it everywhere on the list that had the word trusted
in it.... same message Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150547
IE6 not updating a page
I develop web pages on one computer with a Vista / IE7 configuration.
I have another computer with an XP SR2 / IE6 configuration that I'm using to
test the pages.
Problem: I update my code, confirm that it's updated on my first computer.
When I go to view on the second computer, IE6 won't update the page.
I have tried:
1. Refresh button, F5.
2. Selecting Tools | Internet Options | Temporary Internet Folders |
Settings | Every visit . . . (Also tried Automatically)
3. Deleting Temporary Internet files via Tools | Internet Options and via
CCleaner.
4. Re-starting the program after each of the above steps as well.
Nothing works and it's pissing me off. Can't be anything to do with my ISP
as my first computer is updating no problem with both IE7 and FF2. It
appears to something going on with IE6.
Ideas anyone?

Some web page text unreadable in IE7
Hello all:
I have a PC running WinXP and IE7, that is current with Windows Updates.
Sometime in the past couple of weeks a strange problem occurred:
on some web pages, some text is unreadable in IE7. I can't figure out why.
It's not specially formatted text, and often the unreadable text is just a
few words within a sentence when the reast of the sentence and paragraph are
readable. If I highlight the text a few times, sometimes I can get part of
it to display temporarily.
It appears to be an issue with IE7 and not with the particular web pages,
because those web pages are entirely readable in an alternative browser such
as Opera.
Has anyone heard of this issue? Could it be an issue introduced by some
recent Windows Update?
One other thing, possibly related or not, that also occurred recently: in
Outlook 2000, when replying to HTML messages some of the reply text I type
is unreadable in the message compose window, even though when the message is
sent the recipient does in fact have all the text I typed and it is all
readable. I thought I'd add this, in case this symptom of some text being
unreadable is related to the IE7 issue. Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150529
Changing homepage settings
I have IE7 and use MSNBC as a homepage. I've tried to modify which and how
many columns or boxes I see (e.g., sports 5, local news 10, etc) but when I
bring up IE again, all the old settings are there. Even though I live in
Illinois, I keep getting NY weather! Tag: Runtime Error Tag: 150522
