IE7 problems
I installed IE7 on my laptop (xp pro sp3) and everything went fine. I
installed it on my desktop (xp home sp3) and I encountered the following
problems:
1) Run once page is blank. It says "done, but there are errors".
2) Windows Update cannot be accessed. It says "Done" but the page is blank.
3) The System Restore Window is blank.
4) The Outlook Express start page is blank.
I uninstalled it and got back to IE6 and everything is OK.
Thanks for any help. Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150961
No Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer is completely missing from my PC.
The Internet Explorer folder at C:\Program Files\ is completely missing, all
the icons are missing, and any reference to IE has just vanished.
Is there a way to reinstall IE for Windows Vista? I've done a few searches
but haven't been able to find a 'Yes' to my answer; and a way to do it.

IE 7: Windows Live My Live Page Will Not Load
An odd behaviour I can't figure out. My Windows Live Page will not load in
IE7. It does in both Firefox and Opera. When I try to open it in IE7 it
opens the goes back as if it is trying to load, but none of the modules
load. I cleared the cache, deleted history and cookies and tried it and it
still will not load. Looked at security settings and could not find anything
that would block them. I started having this behaviour after the URL changed
to the my.live.com designation to get to the personalized page. I find it
really odd that other browsers give me access and IE7 won't. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Internet Explorer & Palm OS 5
With the latest developments of the Opera Mini for Palm OS 5 and news about
Firefox developing a browser for Palm OS 5. I would love to see Microsoft
develop the Internet Explorer for Palm OS.
At this time there are those of us who are stuck with our Palm OS Treo PDA's
and can't afford to make the switch yet to a Windows Mobile PDA. It would
help us out a lot to see Microsoft make some apps for the standard Palm OS 5.

Problem with IE7 and Norton Internet Security 2008
Shalom all my pals,
I just upgraded on my Vista Ultimate laptop to new Norton Internet Security
2008 to replace expired 2007 version. The expired version never gave me
problem past year.
This time after upgrade, I am being blocked from entering into FSF website
unless I put this website into "trusted sites" section.
Same thing for other few websites.
Also, I lost ability to download any legitimate file from any website such
as avsim or so on using IE7.
Strange thing is that I have no problem DOING ANYTHING I want when I am
using Mozialla Firefox.
If I try to go to any website in IE7, it freezes up. But no problem with
Firefox
I could not find any function on either Norton Internet Security 2008 or IE7
to disable anything so that I can use this website or any other website and
download anything. I suspect there is some advanced protection somewhere.
I tried to use Symantec support web site service but they would not
recognize Firefox and requires use of IE7 to get in meaning I am out of luck.
I called via live chat with Microsoft who said it is out of their department
and I should try more advanced department of Microsoft via PHONE!!!
Anybody got any idea to solve this problem so that I can use IE7 freely.
Regards,
Aharon Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150925
HTTP 500 ERROR
I have a Dell Demension E521 that i bought new last year with Windows Vista
and IE 7 pre-installed. The on going problem that I have is that when ever I
try to sign on to any site that requries me to, even this discussion group, I
get this same message: The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.
What you can try:
Refresh the page.
Go back to the previous page.
More information
This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are
visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.
For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.
But if I open my Netscape 7.2 browser I have no problem and can sign on. I
had to open NS to sign on and post this question.
Is there a simple answer to this problem or should I just forget about using
IE7? I'm just a user and not a tech person. Or should I just pay someone to
correct the problem? "Geek Squad"
Thank for any help. Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150923

IE7 minimize to tray...
What about IE7 to minimize to tray, hiding it self from the task bar on
minimize, without any third party apps to ruin the IE7?
What about open last tab list?
But crash recovery list?
IE7 skins?
Sandbox environment for all add-ons (not through Windows installer)?
Do you vote for these things? Do you know how to be done, without any third
party apps to ruin the IE7?
Maybe they will implement all that things or some of them (some are highly
useful)?

Open multiple windows - how to stop one re-opening over another
Hi, is there something I can do about this? Open a web-page I know is slow to
download. Open another IE session and another web-page that is quicker. Once
the "slower page" finishes loading it forces itself open over the "quicker

IE 7 & Windows XP Pro - icons not working, has to shut down, slow.
Hey Folks,
Really having some problems over the last couple months with IE 7 and not
sure what to do... Running Updates doesn't give me anything either...
Here are a list of the issues...
1. the icons are changing, like in start up menu (says without add-ons) did
used to say that...
2. The icon on my desktop now only creates shortcuts on my desktop when
double clicked.
3. Runs very slow upon entering a url or using a link to open in another
tab... though I have a connection rate of 10MB/ps so this shouldn't be
happening...
4. a few times a day I get that it's encountered a serious error and has to
close.
I've noticed that I've other issues on my system, which I will be posting in
what I hope will be the appropriate places, but I've basically had challenges
ever since getting my new computer in Dec. 07 which is a Macbook Pro, but I
still prodominately run off the Windows XP Pro OS.
Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated....

windows installer popup flashes???
Hello...
I am running a Lenovo Z61m notebook with MS Vista Home premium, IE 7 and all
recent updates. I have run MS Defender and McAfee full system scan with no
errors.
I have recently noticed that whenever I start a new IE window I see a very
brief "Windows Installer Preparing to Install" window flash across the
screen immediately before IE opens fully? It happens every time I open
Internet Explorer...
What is this?
Is it a problem? Virus? Spyware? Microsoft update bug?
How do I fix it?
I would appreciate any feedback...and remedy!!!
Thanks, in advance!!!

Vista IE7 (32bit) - Flash Player 9 ActiveX addon Problems
Hi
I have been having strange rpoblem with This Flash Player.
It cant view "SOME" flash site but not all. For example
https://www.pizzahutdirect.com.au/
What i did was I uninstall Flash player with the downloaded uninstall
package. then run IE7 as Adminsitrator & follow the Adobe website insructions
to install the addon, & i have also downloaded the standalone install for
flash Player 9. In both cases it will run right off the bat, however when i
shutdown my computer & turn it on again , it wont work anymore & it says i
dont have the latest flash player installed, but the strange things is some
site will work & some will tell me i need a latest flash player (which i have
already installed). & also if i run IE7 as Administrator it works (protected
mode is off)
Can someone shed some light on this? i am totally lost
Thanks you

SP3
Tried for three days to download this (XP Home). Finally succeeded tonight
then after restart I got a screen "We apologise for the inconvenience but
Windows did not start successfully due to . . . a software update". I tried
every option but was in a loop.
PCWorld's Advice Center finally sorted my problem - started in safe
mode/system restore - without SP3.
I've just tried to post this on the SP3 page but . . . couldn't.
PCW say I don't need SP3 for 6 moths - as I check for updates every day.
Do I? Don't I? Why is it that every time there's an "SP" update, everything
crashes for a day or two?
Imagine buying a car that crashes after you turn left twice - that would be
unacceptable so why is it that Windows allow their reputation to dissolve in
this way? Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150858

Excel opening in IE
Running Excel 2002, IE 6 on Windows XP, accessing Sharepoint WSS 2.0.
I have a few different workstations that were all created from the same
image that have the same versions of Excel, IE and Windows. I have an Excel
document stored in Sharepoint (WSS 2.0). When I click on the document to
view it, sometimes the document opens within IE and sometimes it opens in
Excel outside of IE. On one workstation the first time you open the document
it opens in Excel outside of the browser and everytime after that (until the
browser is closed and reopened) the document is opened within IE.
We would like the documents to always open within IE, which happens on a
couple workstations but not on others. I haven't been able to figure out
what is configured differently between the computers or what would be
different between opening a document the first time and second time. I have
looked at Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types -> XLS ->
Advanced and made sure the "Browse in Same Window" is checked.
Anyone have any ideas why Excel isn't always opening within IE? Everything
I have found in searching the internet points to the "Browse in Same Window"
checkbox and I've checked and unchecked it several times but it doesn't seem
to make any difference.
Thanks in advance

IE7 wont work!!
Wrote a few days ago about friend's troubled computer (no updates/anti-virus

circle spinning( never even timed out). Went back to IE6, no problems. Re
installed IE7 and same problem. Could run "quick scan "from LiveOneCare, but
full scans would get to about 80% and freeze (on IE...hmmm). Had Firefox, so
I know I was connected and able to access internet. Several posts suggested
starting from scratch, which I did last night. Now, I am running XPSP3 (with
IE7 update installed after SP3) after formatting HD and fresh Windows
install, and still having same problem with IE7!!!
When I try to open IE7 without addons, just freezes, and I have to use task
manager to close it. I have tried resetting IE settings from Advanced tab of
Internet Options with no luck......please, any ideas? Driving me crazy!!!

IE7 How to view scripted saved webpages with Internet security Hig
With IE6, I could view scripted saved webpages to My Computer and view them
no problem even with the Internet Security level set as high.
I have just installed IE7 and it doesn't work as before. IE7 now seems to
treat saved webpages as the same security zone as intenet pages viewed on the
web!
I want to keep my Intenet Security level high for general browsing but I
want to be able to read my saved emails which I need Javascript enabled to
do. And I don't now want to have to change the Internet Security level every
time I want to view a saved webpage.
It worked no problem on IE6 but I don't know how to get it to work on IE7.

link. I don't recall making any changes but we all know how that is. Any
ideas as to what the problem is? Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150721

IE7 and Flash
Anyone have any issues running Flash on IE7? We have Flash pre-recorded
demos and one of our users on IE7 only gets "a black screen with a red
triangle in the top corner". Does this sound familiar to any of you?

Service Pack3 and IE7
I use Windows XP home with IE7.
I read microsoft article saying that I need to uninstall IE7 prior to
install new service pack3. It stated if I install service pack3 with IE7 in
my PC I won't able to uninstall IE7 in the future. The ariticle recomend I
uninstall IE7 first, then install service pack 3 then re-install IE7 after
that. My question is will I encounter with a problem other than not be able
to uninstall IE7? also, What kind(degree) of inconvenience will I have if I
can not uninstall IE7 later? Should I follow this advice? Thank you in
advance for the advice.

CSS: bad interaction between position and margin
The following code snippet produces two slashes
/ \
as it should:
<DIV STYLE="POSITION: ABSOLUTE" >/</DIV
><DIV TITLE="an artificial separator for IE"></DIV
><DIV STYLE="MARGIN-LEFT: 20EM">\</DIV >
If you remove the middle DIV, you get an X way to the right (the slashes
overlap).
Why is that? Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150693
Problem with AVG Free 8, Vista Home Premium SP1 and IE7
Installed Free AVG 8 here today on two systems - Vista Home Premium SP1 and
XP SP3 with IE7.
On the Vista machine, the installation of AVG 8 broke IE7 in opening a
second window - it just hung until the "not responding" message appeared.
I tried installing AVG without the surfsearch function, and without the
Linkscanner module - still couldn't open a second window in IE.
Uninstalling of AVG 8 cured the problem.
The installation on XP SP3 with IE7 had no effect at all. IE7 behaved
perfectly normally.
Anyone seen this, and is there a fix?
(The reason I went for AVG is that it picked up a virus on my XP machine
that Avast! did not.....) Tag: HTTPF Tag: 150677
My company just went over to using HTTPF for our e-mail but everytime I put
it in IE changes it back to HTTP, how can I stop this from happening?
