When I click on the file and opt to Save As using IE7 and Vista I direct the
file to go into my Download folder but then it immediately disappears,
whether I click Run or Save, the file appears to be downloading just fine and
then it disappears entirely.
I have been using FireFox without issue as the solution, but I would like to
be able to use IE7 as I've always done.

I'll give you a summary of the things I've tried to fix the problem:
* Deleting Temporary Internet Files in IE
* Deleting Windows Temp folders
* Shutting down all non-microsoft spyware/antivirus programs
* Checking for viruses/spyware with AVG, Windows
Defender, SpyBot S&D 1.5.2
* Installing all latest chipset drivers available
* Installing all Windows Updates including Vista SP1
* Running IE7 in "no addons" mode
* Resetting IE7
I had a suspicion that this may have occurred after a recent Windows update
and I've also tried Restoring to a date before the one I suspected, but this
didn't resolve the problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How long have you been running Vista? How familiar are you with Protected
Mode and UAC?

Hi,

I've been using Vista Home Premium on my PC since I bought it....Jan/Feb 07
and it came pre-installed, although I've had to reformat it several times.
I've heard of both Protected Mode and UAC, but would have only limited
knowledge of both.
(If it is any help in trying to solve this; I am the sole user of this PC
and mine is the only account.)
I have the Protected Mode enabled in 3 of the 4 options in the Security tab
in IE7 options. I have not altered any of these, but the "trusted sites"
page, does not have Protected Mode enabled. I've assumed that this is the
default setting.
