Hi all

Can anyone give me a fault finding procedure to establish why Internet
Explorer won't work please?
Never had problems with this before, simply put the ip address of the proxy
server and the port number into the Lan Settings under the Connections tab
and Bob's your uncle - but not in this case!
Client is Dell Latitude 830 laptop running XP Pro
Server is Win2003 Server running ISA server as Proxy
30+ users connected in the same way and no issues
Tried re-inputting all details/logging on as domain admin - still no joy!
The user can access the ISA server as this doubles as Exchange box.

Anyone any idea where this may be blocked/over-ridden?

TIA

Phil

Yes, but it depends on the IE version and problem description, neither of
which you supplied.

Good call Frank
IE V6
Browser will load cached home page but when another site or refresh is
requested, nothing happens.
The windows logo "waves" but nothing is loaded - IE eventually times out.

Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/pc_ie_intro
I don't no if that applies to your case.

My first move would be to go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
and uncheck Enable third-party browsing enhancements.

My Explorer is also continually changing the LAN setting to go to a proxy
server, despite the fact this is a personal computer. I've changed it back
repeatedly and I reset all Internet Explorer settings but the problem
continued. Now I will try turning off "Enable Third Party Extensions" to see
if that works. Thanks.

How do you connect?
My satellite connection requires a proxy.

Thanks Frank
One thing I forgot to mention which is probably crucial, is the fact that IE
will work via wireless connection. It is only when attempting to connect
via our network and proxy that IE seizes up.
Will work throught the fault finding link when the user comes in next with
the lappy

Thanks

Phil

Nevermind. I found out ATT accelerator was interfering with my wireless DSL
connection. Thanks anyway.

QED: Why would you have a "web accelerator" installed with broadband access?
