After updating a desktop computer with Windows XP SP2, IE6 to IE 7, I am no
longer able to logon to www.hotmail.com website. I keep intermittantly
getting an error : Microsoft Visuall C++ Runtime error; Buffer overrun
detected and then IE closes.
I also updated a laptop computer that is now having the exact same problem.

Anyone have some suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Thank you for any assistance.

Uninstall Google Toolbar/Desktop and see if the behavior persists.

I am having same problem when using Internet explorer 7.0 and Moxilla firefox 2.0. As soon as Hotmail tries to open I get a C++ Buffer Overrun error that says it needs to shutdown the program. I have tried reloading both programs and I have run PC tools Antivirus, spyware Doctor and Register mechanic to ensure all is clean but to no avail. any Ideas?

What security programs such as firewall and AV are you using? Have you tried
placing the Hotmail site and related sites in the Trusted sites zone? I am
using AVG Free and windows xp sp2 firewall and at least I can open the
signin webpage for Hotmail.

Okay, sorry, you said you are using PC Tools AV. What firewall are you
using? Try turning off PC Tools AV and opening the Hotmail page in order to
see if the error still occurs.
