When I hit a website with IE7, I get annoying "Boinks". I thought this was
related to blocked cookies. I have tried everything to quiet (turn-off) this
annoying sound. I am on XP Home Addition.

Anyone have any idea how to make this go away?

Duh! I found it. It was Pest Patrol Cookie Monitor!

Hi

Boinks or Clicks?

Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" applet up from the Control Panel and
click on the "Sounds" tab on that applet. Scroll down to "Windows
Explorer||Start Navigation" and test the sound associated with that event by
clicking on the "Play Sound" arrow next to the Browse button. If that is
the "Boink" sound you want to get rid of, then select "none" from the sounds
selection box and apply the change.

Good luck,

Donald Anadell

Hi,
You've probably been here, but go to Control Panel> Sounds> Sounds. Go
slowly through the list and disable any suspect sounds. Don't overlook
Windows Explorer- Start navigation and Complete navigation.

Shouldn't happen on every site, but check IE> Tools> Pop-up blocker>
Settings.

Look through settings of third-party programs running in the background-
ad-blockers, pop-up blockers, antispyware, privacy, etc. What's running down
in the Notification area (systray) that might be making the sound?

If you're running a secutify suite (Norton, McAfee, etc) look through
settings for a notification sound option.

Hope this helps,
