    - HELP! Tiny font for buttons and text fields I have been using IE7 that came with the laptop I recently purchased. Mostly, it's been fine, but I have one problem I can't seem to solve. The font for buttons, combo boxes and text fields on most web sites appears as a very small Times Roman (I would estimate maybe four point type). It's effectively impossible to read.     - Shockwave Flash Object - slow loading of web pages in IE7 / Vista Vista on many web pages (mostly those with ads) has delays loading (ie yahoo, ebay etc). There can be a 2 second delay before the web pages loads and becomes responsive. The individual web page cannot be pre-empted until it is finished (so navigation is disabled). Other web browsers can be opened so it is not an OS problem. When disabling Shockwave Flas Object add-on, it works normally. Has anyone experienced the same problem?     - IE7 Favorites - File date and size I'm using IE7 on WIN XP Pro SP2. I have noticed that my favorites file dates keep changing and in some cases the file size keeps getting larger over time. The date seems to change each time I visit a site. There also seems to be a lot of information (much of which is repetitive) being added to the shortcut file by some sites. One of my shortcuts is now up to 144K bytes. Before IE7, a typical shortcut file size was between 100 and 300 bytes and didn't change. Can anyone explain why this is happening with IE7? How large can these shortcuts grow to be? Is there a limit? Setting a shortcut to read-only prevents it from changing but I don't know what issues I am creating by doing this. Are there any?     - IE is on my computer but no longer visible. I've no idea how this happened. Everything was normal one day and then it wasn't. IE is no longer in with my quick launch items and it isn't on the "all programs" list on the start menu either. If I look under "Program File" on my C drive there is a folder for IE but there are nothing executable in there and the entire folder weighs in at 3.41 MB which can't be appropriate. Seems simple enough... Just reinstall, right? Well nothing changed when I did that (twice). The other part of the puzzle is that the program is available because if I choose to launch something from Windows Live Messenger it brings up an IE 7 window. What am I not getting here?     - Windows Media Player Add-In Just recently on my Vista machine, the Windows Media Player ActiveX control started causing certain pages that use it to take forever to load. I'm sure it's that add-in because I disabled all of them and added them back in one by one. When I go to a page that uses the control it takes about 30 seconds for the page to load, and IE completely locks up during that time.     - New window goes to background! Has anyone any idea why, when i click an item on a website for example, an item in a shop, the new window that opens goes behind the main browser window? Its driving me crazy, its not 100% of the time either, e.g. this editing window opened up on top fine. Is there a compatibility issue with some sites now?     - Problem with IE Favorites List in Windows Vista IE 7 Looking for some advice with an annoying problem I've encountered with Windows Vista. When I access my "Favorites" list while using Internet Explorer 7, when I visit a site then click on the favorites list again, 90% of the time it reverts back to the beginning of the alphabetized list - not where I left off when I accessed the most recent site. So, I'm having to scroll down the favorites list each time to get back to where I was - working down the list alphabetically. Not the biggest deal in the world, but annoying. On my other computers running XP and Windows 98, the favorites list remains where it was the last time I clicked on it when I return back to it. I looked in every Windows Vista book at the bookstore and did not see anything regarding a fix for this issue, nor have I found much on this on this issue on Google or on this site.     - Going from one site to another loosing the first site This drives many of our employee's nuts. They log on to a site, and then to another, only to have the first one disappear. We use to be able to go to tools|internet options|advanced|and taking off the check mark for windows being able to reusing Windows for launching shortcuts. Now it doesn't work anymore. There must be a way for the first site to not go away. It works on my computer. Yes the site most likely is a https site, but it still does not close my https site.     - IE7 Norton Firewall I have been having similar problems to some items posted here regarding IE7 and connecting to the internet on a Windows XP PC. I have Norton Firewall installed and if I disable the firewall the connection works. As soon as the firewall is switched back on the problem returns. I have noticed that people have suggested reverting back to IE6 and switching off automsatic windows updates. I'm reluctant to do this and wonder if any one has managed to resolve this by making changes to any of the setting in IE7 or in Norton Firewall?     - IE 7 automatic feed sync doesn't work Hello, The feed sync engine doesn't work anymore on my computer. I could still update my feeds manually, but any scheduled/automatic update fails. The engine was working well until I updated BITS using the KB923845 hotfix. Could it be related? Are there any logs produced by the feed sync engines to help debug the problem?     - IE7 Deleting Active X controls When managing browser add-ins in IE7, I am unable to delete active-X controls as this function does not appear to be working!     - Network refuses to stay connected I just bought a laptop for school that has Windows Vista, and uses McAffe. I was able to connect to the internet through a modem we use with our XP desktop, (wirelessley) but every couple minutes it throws me offline and I have to reconnect. I think there is a setting somehwere maybe in the firewall or even in network options but I cant find anything that is fixing the problem.     - your current security settings do not allow for this file to be do i receive the message "Your current security settings do not allow for this file to be downloaded" on the microsoft web site. I'm trying to download a system update from microsoft download site. The error occurs when I try to run the genuine advantage check file. I was able to download and install the GA file using an alternative browser, but still not able to download the system file. I have uninstalled my firewall (zone alarm), added the site to my trusted zone, reduced all my security settings to the lowest possible setting, deleted temp. internet files and cookes, and ran a registry cleaner to get rid of the leftovers from zonealarm, but still getting the same message. Running Windows XP pro. I am the only user and have administrator privileges. I have run the Windows Genuine Advantage tool before.     - IE7 onmousedown event in combo box <select> not firing like IE6 (b Hello, I have a page that relies on the use of the onmousedown event on a combo box (<select>) to perform a particular action. In IE6, the onmousedown event fired with every mouse button press (as you'd expect it would). However in IE7, this behavior has changed and the event no longer fires for the second mousedown event if it that event is part of a double click motion. The ondblclick event does fire in that case, but in total only one onmousedown invoke is made compared to the two that are fired under IE6. I don't have any workaround that I can think of. The ondblclick event isn't suitable because it fires only when the button is released -- an event which is too late for the behavior I need. To reproduce this, dump the code below in a file and open it under IE6 and 7 and double click the combo.     - Can only bring up one webpage I recently had my computer crash and was told it was not repairable by those guys that get to ride around in that cute little car...so we believed them and bought a new computer...well I had a very expensive program on the old computer that does not run on Vista (which the new computer has) and it also requires a parallell port to install a security dongle...so I took it to a local computer repair shop and guess what? They fixed it! Well we have cable modem and run multiple computers on a wireless network...my husband got the network running on the newly fixed computer..set my default or home page to msn.com...well when you click on internet explorer it brings up the msn webpage...I can click on something on that page and it will take me somewhere else, but if I type in a web address the weirdest thing happens...a new little window pops up but it appear to be reloading msn again...I cannot go anywhere else but the msn page or one of the links from that page...I can't figure this out...I could see not being able to connect at all, but to only be able to get to one page....anyone have any idea why this happens?     - IE 6.0 has High CPU on one Web Site Only In the last few days a specific Web site causes IE 6.0 to use 50% - 100% of the CPU. The site in question http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp this is the American Diabetes Association Web site. When the â??Message Boardsâ?? link to the right is depressed, the CPU goes MAX. If a â??Topicâ?? link within the board is used the same problem continues. Once you link out of the â??Message Boardsâ??, says to the links on the LEFT the CPU goes normal at 5% - 8%. If you go to another site all is OK. If you go to other sites that have Forums, there are NO issues. Other users have noticed the same (about 10) and have reported it but the â??Forum managerâ?? says all is OK and itâ??s not their problem. So as an retired MCP Iâ??m trying to help and a Diabetic.     - No Internet connection I have an XP sp2 with IE7 and just had DSL hooked up. All things worked with Dialup. Now I can only use ICQ but no IE pages open, nor Messenger use available. How can I get it to work? Server says all is well on their end. ICQ does work. I have uninstalled IE7, Checked all settings, but only ICQ and Outlook Express works. Laptop is a month old and IE7 was working previously then stopped a week ago. Reset IE7 back to defaults with no help. What is wrong? How can I reload IE7 without re-installing Vista? Please help! When I try to update it through Microsoft Update, it attempts to verify that I have the proper version of updating software, then the system crashes with an error message Unfortunately, it is not possible to copy the technical data about the error so that I can paste it here for review.     - Turn off Information Bar-Internet Explorer I recently changed my security settings to better suit my online experience, but they are below the "suggested" Windows minimum settings. Now every time I open a new window in Internet Explorer, the yellow Information Bar Flashes until I click the X. Then whenever I click a new window, there it is again. I followed the "Help" instructions for turning any and all notifications off, for both alerts and ActiveX controls, but it continues to pop up and constantly interupt whatever it is I'm doing.     - Making IE7 work in Vista Like a lot of people, I could not get IE7 to work in Vista unless I ran it as an administrator. One solution I picked up was to disable protected mode using the tools menu - this worked well, but I wondered why I could not get the program to work 'properly'. Tonight on another forum I was given another tip and as it works, I thought I should pass it on - forgive me if this has already been posted. If you have omnipage OCR software installed, use msconfig to disable it running at startup - apparently it will still run if you want it to later. I am having a problem when I type certain web addresses into my address bar, it will come up with a google search page instead of loading the actual web page. me if I wanted IE to connect to the internet. I accidentally clicked no.
Now I can't get IE to connect to the internet. Any thoughts on how how to
fix this mad thing????
