I have a 2003 SP 1 DC with all the FSMO Roles on it. I need to replace a
volume on this server that hosts the AD folders. If I do a backup to tape,
then replace the volume and then do a restore, will replication be okay or
will I need to do anything special?

Thanks,

Jim

Hello Jim,

Install the new disk first and then you can follow this article:

Thanks Meinolf,

I can't add the new volume first because it will be replace a smaller one
that is already there. It looks like the easiest way to do this is to demote
the server, let replication happen, and then re-promote it.

Jim,
If you have multiple dc's it would be easiest if this only performs dc
functions to take a full backup (Just in case) and then follow an article I
have on decommissioning a dc at:

Decommissioning A DC
