    - Outlook Contacts Lost - Are they gone forever? A colleague is changing PCs and needed her contacts moved from one computer to another. I've done the export exercise in the past without luck. This time, we decided to move her contacts to a separate folder (to preserve the existing contacts in case of corruption) and copy that folder onto a thumb drive. Used the "create folder" option on the drop down menu, created the folder, and when I clicked Okay, only one contact was moved to the new folder. Went to the old folder to try to move the lot, and everything was gone. Only that one contact remained. There was no warning note of "are you sure you want to delete all files" or anything like that; looked high and low; had our system administrator search the server, they are just gone. How is this possible? By the way, this isn't the first time I've lost contacts - in a pc to mac conversion, the import/export feature completely lost them all. What a nightmare.     - Contact Phone Numbers need resetting Hi, I have a public contacts folder set up in outlook 2000. Unfortunately the phone numbers were typed in the following format + 1 - 232 - 67890 (spaces and dashes as shown). We have now upgraded to outlook 2003 and now when we add new contacts the phone number format is set to +1 232 - 6789, even though we type in the format originally used (BTW the contacts form is moified which stops the numbers being underlined for some reason). The problem I have is that the 1300+ contacts that where already there need changing to match the new format. I have tried changing and reseting the Dialing properties to another country and back to UK, and exporting to PST file and re-importing, but no luck.     - Outlook 2003 and Sharepoint I am working on a large multicenter project with three other people in a large academic setting. We have Outlook and Access 2003 on our computers. In addition, we have a Sharepoint website that is hosted by a third party. We have a large list of contacts that are devided into various committees and subgroups, and we are running into challenges maintaining the contact lists for communication. I have a couple of questions... At this point, we do not know of a way to link the contact information in our Access database with our Outlook contacts and distribution lists. Is that possible? We have tried creating Outlook distribution lists on the global directory with limited permissions as a means for members of our group to have access to the lists for communications, but this requires negotiating with our IT group to update the list. As our contact list is dynamic and there are frequent changes, this has proven ineffective. Is there a way to share contacts that allows others to send mail to shared distribution lists? We have been successful in sending mail to shared contacts, but the distribution lists will not work. Is it possible to maintain the contact list on Sharepoint in a way that would maintain the distribution lists? If not, do you have any suggestions on how we could integrate these 3 Microsoft products in a way that we are not having to update and maintain 3 separate lists of contact information? Thanks!     - Contact filtering Does anyone know if there is a way to create a contact view in Outlook 2007 that is filtered by the first letter of either the last name field or the file as field. I used to use tabview organizer, and their tech support and I worked out SQL code (for the SQL tab) that allowed for this in their product, but they have not been able to get it to work properly with Outlook 2007, so I have lost the functionality since I upgraded. I have 34000 contacts in Outlook, and it would be great to be able to only look at a smaller list (by letter), rather than having to scroll through all 34000 contacts every time I need to find someone. In microsoft outlook express there is a setting that allows you to
automatically save the addresses of all the emails you reply to. Simply click
"reply" the address is saved in contacts. Is this feature available in
outlook 2007?

No full versions of Outlook ever had the ability to add recipients
automatically to your Contacts Folder. Only the long abandoned IMO mode of
Outlook 98/2000 did that. To automatically add the email address of people
you respond to to your Contacts Folder requires code:
