Outlook 2007 Address book Service
I'm running Outlook 2007 (part of MS Office) on Vista Ultimate, and cannot
get the adderess book to recognise the contacts folder - the tick box is
greyed out in the contacts>properties>OAB - I went to the Address Book
settings under account settings and checked I have the MAPI OAB in there
however it won't let me remove it to reinstate it, or in fact change it at
all. I've read through as many of the similar postings as possible but now am
stumped... any ideas? Tag: How to create a blind email distribution list Tag: 127030
How do I delete the files listed under My Contacts in Outlook2007
When looking at Contacts on Outlook 2007, on the left there is a category
called My Contacts. Under it are several listings including Contacts, Shared
Contacts, etc. I would like to delete some of these or at least be able to
set one of them as the default. Tag: How to create a blind email distribution list Tag: 127028
Usefulness of shared contacts
I have a setup where we want to keep a corporate contact list
available to all users (but maintained centrally - users only need
read access). So we have a specific account that "owns" the global
contact list, and have shared that user's contact list. Other users
can successfully see and access this shared list in Outlook 2003 by
going to Other Contacts, clicking on the "master" user's name, and
their contacts are then displayed. From here it's possible to right-
click and choose "new message", "new appointment", "new meeting" and
"new task" - so far, so good, and exactly what we need.
However, suppose our user wants to send an email to TWO of the shared
contacts; they can start as above by choosing "new message", but if
they now click "Cc..." to add another of the shared contacts, they
can't find them. They don't appear in the "Global Address List", nor
under "Contacts", nor "All address lists", nor "Public folders". Even
if they type in a valid name for one of the contacts directly into the
CC box, it won't validate and expand to the email address from the
master contact list.
The way it is at present, sharing contacts is at best very long winded
(involving cutting and pasting of email addresses) and at worst
useless. Is this really so, or am I missing some step in the setup of
the master list?
Thanks,

Birthday / Anniversary Contacts to Calendar
Hi All,
I understand that when I place a birthday or anniversary in a contact then
Outlook should place that same birthday or anniversary in the calendar. I
can't seem to make this work. I understand there is sometimes a problem with
imported .pst files. I've created new contacts and it still doesn't work. I
have changed some of the categories (initially combined Birthday and
Anniversary) which I've subsequently changed back.
Does anybody have any bright ideas?

My contacts are organized into folders to help me manage my contact list.
While I was able to direct Blackberry to download all of my contacts by

Is there someway to download the contacts to Blackberry and maintain their
folder divisions.

Outlook 2003: Show this folder as an email Address Book" option unavailable
Hi!
I have my old work laptop which I now use solely for personal use. My
registry was corrupt so I deleted it. I've reinstalled Office with the
install files on the hard drive.
The problem I'm having now, I can't use the Outlook Contacts in outbound
emails. I can only use my PST Contacts. I can add new contacts to the
Outlook Contacts, but can't see them in the new outbound emails.
Right-clicking on the Contacts folder icon and selecting "Properties",
selecting the "Oulook Address Book" tab, the checkbox for "Show this folder
as an email Address Book" is greyed out.
I went into Control Panel, Mail, and deleted the profile and created a new
one. Nothing changed.
Thanks for your help.

You must recover mapi32.dll in %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\ to original

Outlook Address Book Won't Show Contacts
I have thoroughly reviewed, and tried, the various suggestions posted here,
and elsewhere in the Windows Community, for solving this problem. Nothing has
worked so far.
On a new machine, using VISTA and Outlook 2007, I used Windows Easy Transfer
to copy files from Windows XP & Outlook 2007. The new Outlook Address Book
(OAB) does not recognize the contacts information in the .pst file.
On the first try at transfer, the mail, tasks, and calendar info copied
successfully, and worked fine, but the Contacts info did not display. Based
on advice elsewhere on this forum, I concluded that the Contacts file was
probably in the wrong format, from being copied over from prior versions of
Office. I changed that as instructed, prepared a temporary .pst file, copied
that to the new machine, then cust & pasted that data from the temp .pst
Contacts display into the default .pst Contacts display. That process brought
all of my contacts into Outlook 2007 and in that location, the contact data
is all useable. (For example, from any contact card, I can create a new mail
message and the email address opens in a new message box.)
But, I still cannot open a new message and select an address from the OAB.
It is blank.
In Mail > File > Data File Management > Address Books Tab, the OAB is
displayed. However, it does not list itself when Change is clicked.
In Contacts > Properties > OAB tab, the "Show this folder as an OAB" is
grayed out.
Research here took me to this page:
Contacts are not available in the Address Book
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/contactsinaddressbook.htm
This page accurately describes the problem, and ends with the advice to
"recreate your mail profile," because the OAB service is corrupted.
That leads to these instructions:
Adding/Recreating a Mail Profile
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm
I created a new mail profile, but the problem remains identical. So I am at
a deadend.

Outlook 2007 SP1 creating contact(s) automatically
I've read numerous posts that say Outlook does not and cannot automatically
create a contact. However, it IS happening. Every day, there are a few
contacts added to my contacts folder that I did not specifically add. The
only common denominator is that I received an e-mail from these folks. It's
not even someone I necessarily replied to either.
I've looked through every option window available, for e-mail and contacts,
and cannot find any type of setting that's causing senders to be
automatically added to contacts.
Please do not respond with "Outlook does not do this or cannot do this"
because it's happening. I have no add-in software. Again, I cannot find a
common criteria for which these contacts are automatically created. The only
contact info is their server e-mail address. Tag: How to create a blind email distribution list Tag: 126926

Synching Outlook 2003 contacts and address book!?
Hi,
I've edited my Outlook address book (NOT the Windows address book) that
seems to be based on contacts. But neither the edits nor the deletions get
considered in the Outlookd 2003 Contacts window!?
Why not? Do I need to re-do the whole thing for the contacts now!? That took
my quite some time ... But why would there then be two different kinds of
address books INSIDE Outlook 2003?
I'm still hoping for an easy synch solution though ...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
